I usually know I am ovulating when my body feels achy. About two weeks before my period. I also feel a sharp pain on one side of my body where my ovaries are. It may vary from month to month where the pain is because your body may release an egg from either side. My doctor and sources tell me that ovulation occurs two weeks after your period for two days. You can buy an ovulation kit from a drug store, too. Ask the pharmicist.

Take your temp every day keep an average of it. When you notice a small consistant spike GET IT ON! That's when you are ovulating. I used a Microsoft Excel graph cart to track it...I know I was bored but I got pregnant the first month.

increased vaginal discharge is the most obvious sign that you are ovulating--usually lasts for a few days. have sex THEN. the wettest day is the best day. also, you might get some tender pulls/cramps on one side. ovulation is typically 10-16 days BEFORE your next period. it is called your LUTEAL PHASE--google it. if you do not know your luteal phase---use 14 as a standard---but keep in mind it could be 10-16 days. mine is about 11. also, i read that your luteal phase never changes...so when you have irregular periods---shorter and longer--you will still ovulate X number of days before your period. if you are regular, it is easy to count back X amount of days....and have sex. here is a good definition of luteal phase. http://www.ovulation-calendar.com/hlp-d04-luteal-phase.html
also, you can log your periods on this website....it will help you keep track using the standard 14 day luteal phase. it will estimate when you are ovulating....tell you when your next period is due, basic feature is free.

Really it depends on person to person.Sometimes I have had cramping on left or right side of my ovaries but always my discharge have changed fromnone to wet to sticky egg white(ovulation one) and after ovulation to thick cottage cheese like which changed to watery to none which was leading to another period.Every moth the same.
