Maybe I'm the oddball here but when I read your question it seems to me that you are not asking about a bowl of chili. Right? I think you are asking about the chili pepper itself. If so, there are many health benefits to chili peppers and the capsaicin found in them. Did you that among other medicinal uses that capsaicin cause protraste cancer cells to basically commit suicide? When confronted with capsaicin the cells literally kill themselves. This was found by the American Association for Cancer Research. There's so much more that it would take hours to write them all here. Try this link for some food for thought;

Then if still interested, just do a google search on capsaiscin. It's amazing.

Good luck and hope I answered your question.

Well there was a time when all the texas cowboys had to eat was beef, which was dried in the sun to preserve it. And beans also dried. And vegetables like tomatoes, peppers, garlic, and onions, which may have been made into a sauce with vinegar, to preserve it as well. A lot of recipes are created because they had to use whatever was available. For example, Chinese fried rice is a recipe that was invented to use up leftovers.

Now that IS a good question!
I am serious. Allthough I love chilli I don't understand how it was eaten the first time. Also I don't understand how it is that little children in Asia already seem to like it. Strange!

Some chilis are more mild. And when cooked with other foods, actually compliments the dish.

Olives are extremely bitter until processed. Beer is wheat & barley rotten in water. Bread doesn't rise without yeast. Folks have thousands of years to figure out stuff!

Chili was invented in the south west. When you killed a beef it would start to go bad in a short while in the heat. Chili was invented to hide the rancid taste of the meat that was about to go bad. Yum Yum.... LOL

I don't really understand what you mean.. but I guess because when you're starving.... people will eat anything...even bark.

Anyways, all it takes is one try to see if something growing on a plant is something you can eat..

People use to think tomatoes were poisonous for the longest time.
