I was diagnosed with Ankylosing Spondylitis last year. I can not understand why so many diseases including cancer can not be cured. With all the technology and advancement in healthcare. Is it bcoz phamacuetical companies dont want us dead or cured but want us to be sick enough so there products can be sold?

I beleive that very thing. There's no money in cures, I don't think they even let their scientists look for cures, only helps.

If you don't trust western medicine just feel free to try alternative ways of treatment. No one is forcing you to go to western docs or to use western drugs.
But let me explain some things. Our technology seems to be very advanced but that's only at first sight. When you look deeper you would recognize deficits. Today we can cure just about one third of all diseases world wide. We don't know all the aspects of cancer, many viruses, many functions of our cells, our organs and so on and so on. We are just at the beginning.
The pharmaceutical companies are not so bad as many people think. Yes, they are oriented for profit but you should know that developing a new drug costs between 20 and 100 million dollars.
Many drugs developed for curing diseases emerge as not so effective as thought before. That has many reasons. Sometimes the bacteria develop resistance, sometimes there are other reasons.
And developing new drugs is not only expensive it also takes time, up to 5 years and more.
You see, not everything is just black and white, there are many grey steps in between.

Heh, you've just contradicted yourself there. If they were that clever, they'd come up with a drug that you'd have to take forever to stay cured. Have you looked into the mechanisms of cancer and such diseases? They are mindcrunchingly complex.
I don't think the pharmaceutical companies are that vindictive. A cure for cancer right now would present the curees with a fortune worthy enough to last them a million lifetimes of saunas, limos and mansions.
But I guess you never do know do you?

I'm sorry for your affliction, but do you think medical practices elsewhere would be more beneficial? Personally, I'll take modern western medicine over shamans and witch doctors any day. People from all over the world try to come to America to be treated for their diseases because their countries don't have the knowledge or technology to treat them. Of course pharmaceutical companies want to make money. But, if their research didn't produce results they would go broke, and people would suffer a lot more. I hope you find the treatment you need.

If there was a cure for cancer than that would put all the pharmacies and hosptials out of business. In Mexico they were doing a study on sweet potatoes or Camote. Something inside the plant can act as an agent against cancer if you are high risk.

it's because not everyone is the same...just like not every diseases is the same. it takes a long time to come up with something SAFE enough that EVERYONE can take.
Plus you have these new diseases like bird flu and west Nile that like to change and mutate... making the medicine we do have, useless.
it also takes ALOT of money to research and find cures.. and sometimes there just isn't enough money.

I trust western medicine more than eastern medicine. I have family in China. Most of the practices I see the doctors do over there are for nothing but pure greed. If they did anything of what they did over they, they would so lose their licenses over here.
