I'm depressed to see willfull ignorance become so popular in the supposed "most powerful nation in the world". It is the reason for many conflicts throughout the globe and many - if not all - of our nation's current problems.

The intolerance has always been there, the other cultures havent. By setting any standards one must by definition segregate.
The greater the pride, the greater the divide.
This leads to elitism, fascism and good ol fashioned WORLD WAR 2.
Yeah, the only way around it is to a) have no standards, or b) be surrounded by other cultures from infancy, where there is no fear.
.......the way this question is structured looks like you're writing an essay on the subject, except for c not really fitting in.

Yes, its getting quite a nightmare, and one feels so helpless like a snowflake in an avalanche! Never mind you are entirely alone, we can live in hope I guess, there are still some nice kind and tolerant people around still, you just have to look a little harder for them Have a nice day/

No, it's not just you. However, I have to look myself in the face everyday (well, in the mirror..hehe) and I'm not perfect. I try not to 'get on to' other people without realizing that I need some work done, too. I need to stop and think before I speak, I need to treat other people nice, even if it doesn't seem like they deserve it. Oftentimes being friendly to someone who seems grouchy will change their demeanor. If I hang on to that rebellious thinking that they should be nice first, things will never change.

I just wish I could go to a park on a weekend and not feel like I was in a foreign freaking land. Too much to ask in my own country?

It's not just you. I feel sad too. But I have to go on cause there's not anything one person can do.And if it doesn't make you sad then you are most likely one contributing.

It's not you. I feel sad too and wonder what kind of world we are preparing and leaving for our grandchildren. I have nine of them, seven under six years of age, and I am sick to see the world as it is. They deserve better, and we owe them better. Sad!!
