Check with the schools to see if they have before and after school care.

School should be starting soon. Get him/her involved in after school activities like a team. Until then, places like the Y or a Boys/Girls club might have after school activities. See if there's a local parents group that might have some advice. You don't have a neighbor you can trust the child with for a couple of hours?

If you go to groups.yahoo.com, and type in your city and single parents, you might find a group nearby that you can socialize with and get advice from.

I would check with your school to see if there is an after school program where she can go until you pick him/her up after school.
You may also check the local paper and/or grocery stores for those pin up ads to see if there is a local baby sitter in your neighborhood that can provide after school care? Ask some of the mothers in the neighborhood that you know work where they have their children after work. Sounds like day care is going to be an added expense now, but at least it's only after school

There are other options suh as daycare, or school programs that will keep your child until pick up. Babysitters is another option. I know it can get expensive. I have a seven year old. Do you have other relatives or friends in the are that could watch hi/her?

He needs to be in school during the day. Then he could do after school programs, or at the YMCA. Or a babysitter, or child place could pick him up.

school!! i am not sure what your hours are at work, but they do have 24 hour care at some places. find a babysitter, sometimes you can switch off babysitting for free with another parent in the same situation. check with your child's friends' moms

Check into YMCA after school programs, sometimes the schools have one too. But WHATEVER you do, dont let the child stay home alone after school, he or she is too young for that.

Good luck
