Hello, fellow Yahoo Answerers. I need help with something.
I want to get my hair permed really bad. I've craved curly hair for awhile, but I always thought I was too young. I'm only 11,so that is why I am asking for help. Does anyone have any tips on what I should do to prepare,or stuff I should bring with me to Master Cuts? (that is where I will be going to get it done.)
Or,any advice at all would be very very helpful.

well i don't know very much about perms, but i know that you are not supposed to take a shower until 24 hours after getting a perm (Legally Blonde...lol) and that your hair will get pretty dry so i would ask Master Cuts if they have a product to give your hair some extra nutrition or some extra shine so that your hair won't get too frizzy or messed up since you are 11

Be careful What You Ask For, When You Go To A Salon Don't Just Say That You Want A Perm, Or You'll End Up Looking Like A Poodle With Very Tight Curls That Look Awful. If It's Curls That You Crave Then Maybe You Would Want A Spiral Perm, Your Hair Is Curly But It's Not Puffy. A Spiral Perm Is Beautiful Long Curls That looks natural, Well Until It Starts To Grow Out.

Well, my mom's gotten perms, and the only instruction I know from that is that she couldnt take showers for about a day or two, because the chemicals need to set. It's really smelly chemical, and can be very harmful to young hair. Like hair dyes and bleach, there are chemicals that harm hair structure. It's better either:
1) When your hair is VERY healthy and strong
2) When your hair is more mature.

If you want a perm, first of all make sure your parents are o.k. with it. I am a prof. hair stylist. I would make sure you know what size curl you want. You don't need to come out looking like Richard Simmons or any thing. You wont need to bring any thing with you, except maybe a book. If you trust the stylist you will have no problems.

Perms, are they really even in style anymore. Natural is always best. Change the style or the color before you go for a perm.

Sara, you really should talk to your Mom, or some other relative who knows you and knows your hair.

well thats cool. but why would you need to bring anything? i think they have everything they need for your hair. and no you aint too young, i've seen much younger kids. so go for it, but make sure your parents are ok with it.

You should probably ask your mom. Your scalp may be too sensitive since you're still young.
