You might tell these Americans you're Croatian, they won't get it. They simply have No frigging idea where this or that country is located in a map. Even those where they've slaughtered thousands like Iraq and Afghanistan, they are just clueless.
You must bear in mind that 99.9% of Americans still live in the XVI century, don't let their hi-tech life fool you: They've got the gadgets, still they have an underlying desire to retake the practice of Witchhunting and the Scarlet Letter. For them it makes no difference whether you come from Brazil or Burundi; both are UN-American places.
Some samples of the United-Statians' ignorance:
-They call themselves "Americans", as if those south of Rio Grande were NOT American.
-They have "Continental" Airlines, the "World" Series.
-Bush has murdered THOUSANDS of innocent men, women and children in the Middle East without doing much to disguise his oil-thirst, yet the American people wanted to impeach (read fire) their President Clinton over an innocent case of oral sex!!!!
-Their President, in a feat of sheer wisdom, mistook the President of Slovenia for the Slovsakian President.
-Many Hindi people were discriminated against (and some even murdered) after 9/11.
-MOST Middle-Americans (wherever they got this term from) believe in UFO's, ghosts and conspiracy theories of La RAza and the New World Order....some even think they're being threatened by Russia and the UN!!!
So don't expect many nice answers from the inhabitants of that eerie planet called the United Stupids of America.
A Mexican.
Obrigado! (sp?)

As a gringo that has been to Brazil many circumstances, I listen this too, yet this isn't restricted to Brazil. if you're a minimum of a 'little' bit into US politics, you'll comprehend that the 'have nots' want to develop into the 'haves', and could do something to get there. even as they do, the precedence is an similar, despite the indisputable fact that the gamers turn-flop. The 'haves' develop into the 'have nots', and the 'have nots' develop into the 'haves'. The adverse subject matters that are delivered up by ability of the 'have nots' benefit international-huge press insurance and interest. The helpful subject matters aren't any further stated, as this isn't 'information worth'. regrettably, even with the continent, adverse information of america of a is integrated into different cultures, the position through the years, the human beings actual believe it. america of a is the 'haves' of the international, and the 'have nots' will do or say something to portray a adverse view human beings. Brazil is a alluring united states of america with a alluring human beings. Their all and sundry is lower than the effect of what they listen of their personal press, besides as biased international information pronounces from what's perceived as us of a media. CNN international is in easy words one party of this. they are for sure slanted to the left, and could in easy words record information it incredibly is in accordance to their perspectives. something else of the international eats off the same plate. concerning why a Brazilian could ask you what you imagine of Brazil - They comprehend the stereotype it incredibly is placed on their united states of america and are searching for a validation for or adverse to. in case you say that they are something that helps what their media claims gringos imagine, then they have their validation. in case you say no longer something adverse, then you are a liar or an outcast. i recommend acknowledging that the stereotype exists, (to the ignorant, it does) yet that you note it in a special way. you'd be respected significantly better and perchance replace a thoughts contained in the approach.

Why would I mind? LOL. I'm a proud American that would love for as many of my fellow humans to have the same rights as I.
If you are coming here to work the same wages as I...come. I don't judge those that enter illegally, because they are all just trying to improve their lives. I do - however - blame their governments for treating them poorly and making poor movements towards improving said treatment. If these people lived in countries where their government were making these improvements then the overwhelming drive to move to the United States would be diminshed.
