I can help!
Open your media player.
Click the tools tab, then click options.
This brings up the options screen.
Click the devices tab.
Click on the device in question (probably d: or e:) then hit properties.
Click the recording tab.
On the bottom of this dialog there is a write speed setting.
Try setting it to fastest.
If this gives you problems, set it down a notch.
Make sense? Hope that helps!
Also: If you have an old computer you may just have a slow cd burner. If the above doesn't help, get a replacement. Should only set you back $50.

Windows Media Player just isn't that good.
If you want to keep WMP, get the BETA for WMP 11 from Microsoft's website. Make sure you burn in the WMA format.

'cause windows tends to be slow....or at least that's what everyone thinks. It's most likely your cd burner, it just won't throw data on as fast as you want. Either that or WMP stinks at processing data to another device.

1 have a fast dvd/rw and burn cds from the dvd/rw drive software dont use media player

maybe it does not have enough memory maybe too many windows open could be possible
