Give your dog Innova Evo dry food by Natura. It's made for people who don't have the time or inclination to cook for thir dog, but like a raw diet for them. The protein is about 45 % and there are no grains at all. It's the closest you can get in a kibble that is near to the natural diet for a dog. It's expensive, about $48.00 for a 30 LB bag, but my 80 LB Golden only eats about 2 to 3 cups a day. Because they eat less, it actually works out to spending about $5.00 a week more, plus you don't have to give them any kind of supplements.

My Golden has been on this diet for about six months and the difference is amazing. His coat is beautiful, he's full of energy and.....best of all.....no bad breath or passing gas. My vet is very impressed and has started to recommend it.

Some say beet pulp=fiber, some say it is a common cause of diarrhea. If your dog is not having diarrhea, it is probably ok. Beet pulp, corn, soy, by-products and other garbage that goes into dog food cannot possibly add up to a high-quality diet (even in the "premium" stuff). Unless you spend a small fortune, kibble (or canned) is inherently not the best quality food for your dog. Dogs have been thriving off of meat, scavenged food and leftovers for thousands of years, and kibble has existed for a few decades. You can always try supplementing the kibble with natural foods (talk to a good vet or do a search for raw diet) if you are concerned. (note: anyone who says your dog should eat nothing but kibble doesn't understand nutrition--that is like telling a person to eat nutrient-enriched spam and rice for every meal).

How about talking to your veterinary professional about which diet he or she recommends? I always recommend Hills Science Diet. It is a well formulated balanced diet.
