When children are born, they do all sorts of tests which are nothing to worry about. They use the results to moniter that the child grows normally and so on.

Most birthmarks have a slight tendency to evolve into skin cancer later on in life, which is why they have said to keep an eye on them. They are generally eassily removed before they cause any damage. In my family we have all had to have birthmarks removed from our legs with nothing more to show than small scars.
