Your right but, the motivations in this case are very different. Vietnam was about crushing independent nationalism which is the greatest threat to US economic interests. I will explain that by saying(if you read the pentagon papers it will explain it all) anytime one country starts trying too form any kind of REAL democracy where US corporate interests take a backseat to the population of that particular interest, that is where the US gets upset not only at the country balking at US aims but, all those surrounding that country. The purpose of Vietnam was to crush the infrastructure of the north, south,Laos, and Cambodia. The US was successful in all four countries(if someone gets out of hand, than the others may get ideas, its called the bully mentality, and the US is the bully) Iraq on the other hand is one that is much more obvious,OIL plan and simple, and you can use the excuse that it is part of the war on terror(which in reality does not exist) So, with that said, they will take another walk of shame, our government is morally and ethically bankrupt, period. The invasion of Iraq is a prime example of the supreme international crime as defined with the final decision at the Nuremberg trials.

No it was not a mistake to be there. Maybe the reason we went to start with was bad intelligence but Saddam was a dictator who oppressed his people, killed them by the thousands and and was an unstable force in the mid-east. Ask the Iraqi people, (majority) if they think it was wrong to give them back their freedoms. I believe that America has always been the beacon of freedom for the world. We are the country that brought that idea to the world and it's what we stand for. I for one, believe that fighting that war for other people is what it's all about. Do you like our freedom? If France hadn't stood with us in the American Revolution, we wouldn't be the country we are today. Because of that help we owe a debt of honor to other countrys that try to achieve the same results. If you're so selfish that you believe we're the only country that should enjoy the freedoms we have, then I feel sorry for you. Strenthening the ideals of freedom throughout the world strengthens our place in the world. It makes the people of the world think that maybe dictatorships and communism isn't such a good thing and maybe democracy is. With more democracies there is less to fear in this world. But terrorism??

You all saw as I did, the political powers that be in the US, stand on the steps of the White House after 911 and vow to fight terrorism. I doubted then as I do now that they had the political backbone to see it through. Our liberal media is helping the terrorists fight the battles daily by weakening our resolve and keep our eyes on the cost of this war. This battle in Iraq isn't with Iraq anymore, it's just become the battleground with all the terrorists in the world. They know that is where the US has soldiers and it's closer than coming to our country, so they take the battle to Iraq. If we pull out of Iraq, then the terrorists will probably go somewhere else that we have troops, or they'll come to our country. They now see us as a treat to their existance. Hell if we teach the Iraqi people how to have an economy, create jobs, build homes, schools, businesses, they might not have as many terrorists recruits to choose from cause they won't have time to work a job or have a business and be a terrorist at the same time.

The only way the terrorists will win is if we keep listening to liberal politicians and a liberal media that keep trying to convince us that fighting for freedom, even if it's someone else's freedom is wrong. These are the loud minority I believe. How many soldiers did CNN interview to finally find one that would say what they wanted to hear. The "American Troops" that I've talked to don't say anything like that. From what I hear, the majority of the Iraqi people are thankful for what we're trying to do for them.

I say quit asking that stupid question. You got some sort of manic/compulsive thing going on with Walk of Shame and Vietnam?
Wash your hand couple thousand times a day?
Running low on lithium?
Keeper off duty?

If we do it will be because of pansy liberals here who can not see the big picture. Instead of supporting our efforts in the middle east they constantly berate and criticize our military in spite of all of the accomplishments we've made over there. In time Iraq will become a free and sovereign nation but it will not happen overnight and it will definitely take a lot more hard work and yes even more bloodshed. But the American heroes that are serving over there are fully up to the task. They just need and deserve our support, respect and appreciation. This war may be the defining event in our lifetime. You can stand in the way or you can stand on the side of righteousness. It's your choice.

**** you, you *********** coward. I was in Vietnam and have nothing to be ashamed of. I fought hard well as hard as my government would let me. The truth is we were never allowed to really fight in Vietnam. I saw allot of good men give their lives and even more injured for the rest of their life. there is nothing to be ashamed of there. And our boys fighting now have nothing to be ashamed of. All you *** holes that preach peace not war. Do you really think we want to risk our life. Some times war is necessary.
So No America will never do the walk of shame we have no reason to.

The only people who will be doing a walk of shame are people who show no support for our military and have nothing better to do than make assumptions.

Probably.

Only because there isn't enough patriotism left in the country to win a war any more. The soldiers are getting old and dying.

And replacements aren't exactly anxious to take their place.

But that's true with other areas of life as well.

The young generation has too many smart alecs who want to start at the top... lazy drunks... and drug addicts, and not enough people who really want to work for a living.

So I guess it's.... "let them have us" ..... huh?

The only time that the USA does the "Walk of Shame" is when traitors and sissies don't stand up for our military.

The only shame we have is having not placed 100% into this thing. I've been there, It's time to quit pulling the punches.
