I would have a fundraiser. I have been to one that was fun and they raised a substantial amount of money...a Trivia Night. They have pretty low overhead...and Fall is generally Trivia Night "season."

Good luck!

Organise a sponsored run or dance class where each participant donates their sponsorship money. Have a jumble sale, all your friends have a clear out and you hire a local hall, get your friends to help and you can raise lots of money.

Promote a concert, there's always talent in your community. Perhaps your local curch could donate the hall for an evening. you can make money on ticket sales and also an auction.Have a sponsored slim, a great way to lose weight and also raise money.

Get a licence for a street collection. Enlist the help of friends to volunteer their Saturday rattling cans outside of the local supermarket/cinema.

Hope these suggestions help.

you can gather all the neighborhood and have a big street yard sale for donation for this child. or ask them to bring everything that they do not want to your home and you have the yard sale. community schools ask them if you can ave a bake sale in for donations to this cases . get all the parents and children involved . get government permission for some of these thing take some of the money and buy items that you think people would like and have a raffle and get the kids from the schools to sell the tickets get girl guides and Scots as well ask head office of Starbucks may have to right letters and see if there could be a item that if it sells it goes to this cause MacDonald any big franchise you right one letter to them all and explain why . word will get around like wild fire and you will receive more money that you will be able to help more then one child .

My friends and I had a fundraiser for a friend of mine whose brother died unexpectedly, and they couldn't fund the funeral. We had a huge benefit at our local fair grounds. Some things we did were....
Hired a couple of local bands
Held an auction of stuff that was donated by local merchants
We had a buffet style dinner that was donated by local grocery stores

People were charged 15.00 admission (Which included the dinner)
It was a huge sucess!! We earned over $5,000
The auction alone raised over $2,000

Good luck...I really hope you are able to raise money for this child!!!

If you can get the TV stations to take an interest in the child's plight, they can help by spreading the word and generating donations.
