Without a doubt, drink plenty of water and if you feel you are having a problem with the alcohol leave it alone or at least cut back.
Have a blood test done to check your sodium levels to make sure that you are not dehydrating from the alcohol, if you are then your liver could be malfunctioning. ALSO, if you are frequently thirsty, you may have an onset of diabetes so get that checked also.
But please drink the water and best of luck to you.
Although the "buzz" might be good at the time, it is not worth taking a risk with your health and possibly your life.

The only water a true alcoholic should consume is in the form of ice.Get a glass, fill with ice, top with your alcohol of choice and drink. Some of the ice will melt and as you drink your alcohol, this should be more than enough water for you.Fight the urge, if you give in (and drink the water) it will ruin your alcoholic status!!!

If this is a serious question...if you are getting an urge to drink water more than you used to, that's probably because you are dehydrated from so much alcohol consumption. I speak from experience, being a die-hard alkie myself. I haven't had a drink (alcoholic) in ten years, but I'll always feel like an expert on the subject. You should drink PLENTY of water, as much as 6 - 8 eight ounce glasses per day, especially since you are drinking so much alcohol. It will help your body (liver) flush out your system more quickly. It certainly won't keep you from being an alcoholic, however will keep you from feeling so sick, as booze will suck water out of your body and dehydrate you as fast as lying out in the desert on a hot day. Being in recovery, I hate to preach, however there is so much help out there...don't wait until you harm yourself or someone else to get it...take care of yourself...I truly mean it.

Yes, it is fine to have water. Drink it whenever you urge for it. Actually, if you drink it more, you will have the urge to drink less alcohol and may be able to fend off dangerous alcoholism.

If you think you are becoming an alcoholic, then your urge for water should tell you for sure. One of alcohol's properties is that it dehydrates your body, hence your craving for water. Actually, most effects of hangovers are caused by dehydration. Alot of alcohol is ordered mixed with water, incidentally, primarily scotch. As to if you think you are becoming alcoholic, please seek help before your life or someone else's is in jeopardy.
