You're already halfway there. By asking this question you showed that you are concerned about doing well. That's the biggest thing. A couple pieces of advice:

1. Make sure your teachers know you. Talk to them, ask them for help when you need it. That shows them that you're trying, which means a lot. It also gets you the help you might need.
2. Hang out with other students who are concerned. Make friends that will help bring you up, not down.
3. Work together with other students when you can.
4. Do your homework. If you get stuck, write down what you tried. At least it shows effort.
5. Be yourself. Don't buy into the image garbage that some people do.

High school is harder socially than it is academically. High school is only as hard as you make it. It is all about your attitude and time management skills. If you apply yourself, you will discover that high school is really just an exercise in seeing how many A's you can rack up. Most people get so caught up in the social traps that education takes a back seat, and only then do the grades start to plummet.

Good grades must be earned...by doing all your homework, asking questions of your teacher when you do not understand something, studying a little every night...paying attention in class and not getting caught up in the social traps that people who don't care about good grades will try to weave to trap you.

Highschool is somewhat hard. I heard Junior year is the hardest. You should do okay if you pay attention in classes and do your homework. Freshman year, for me, was pretty easy. I wish you luck in highschool.
