No it was not a mistake to be there. Maybe the reason we went to start with was bad intelligence but Saddam was a dictator who oppressed his people, killed them by the thousands and and was an unstable force in the mid-east. Ask the Iraqi people, (majority) if they think it was wrong to give them back their freedoms. I believe that America has always been the beacon of freedom for the world. We are the country that brought that idea to the world and it's what we stand for. I for one, believe that fighting that war for other people is what it's all about. Do you like our freedom? If France hadn't stood with us in the American Revolution, we wouldn't be the country we are today. Because of that help we owe a debt of honor to other countrys that try to achieve the same results. If you're so selfish that you believe we're the only country that should enjoy the freedoms we have, then I feel sorry for you. Strenthening the ideals of freedom throughout the world strengthens our place in the world. It makes the people of the world think that maybe dictatorships and communism isn't such a good thing and maybe democracy is. With more democracies there is less to fear in this world. But terrorism??
You all saw as I did, the political powers that be in the US, stand on the steps of the White House after 911 and vow to fight terrorism. I doubted then as I do now that they had the political backbone to see it through. Our liberal media is helping the terrorists fight the battles daily by weakening our resolve and keep our eyes on the cost of this war. This battle in Iraq isn't with Iraq anymore, it's just become the battleground with all the terrorists in the world. They know that is where the US has soldiers and it's closer than coming to our country, so they take the battle to Iraq. If we pull out of Iraq, then the terrorists will probably go somewhere else that we have troops, or they'll come to our country. They now see us as a treat to their existance. Hell if we teach the Iraqi people how to have an economy, create jobs, build homes, schools, businesses, they might not have as many terrorists recruits to choose from cause they won't have time to work a job or have a business and be a terrorist at the same time.
The only way the terrorists will win is if we keep listening to liberal politicians and a liberal media that keep trying to convince us that fighting for freedom, even if it's someone else's freedom is wrong. These are the loud minority I believe. How many soldiers did CNN interview to finally find one that would say what they wanted to hear. The "American Troops" that I've talked to don't say anything like that. From what I hear, the majority of the Iraqi people are thankful for what we're trying to do for them.

No, and how do you know that was really a US troop, that could have been the camera man. The media of late has been doing some really shady things to try to promote their ideals. But let's say for a second that was a real US military soldier. You think the opinion of one enlisted person has any bearing at all on how the rest of the military feels. I know that this war has about a 95% approval rating among the troops currently in the war. What does that say? The point is this war will be won, so long as the politicians stay out of it, (which is why Vietnam was lost, the politicians took over and played war lord, making bad decisions). If you really care about the people involved in the war, you would understand that it is a necessary evil, going to war, particularly this one. Remember this isn't a war on Iraq, this is a war on Terrorism.

What I do not understand is:
What is 'winning'? what event will happen that we say, "we won that war"
I don't think there is anything.
What the heck was the objective in the first place? No one seems to know. No one attacked us, invaded us. Yet we choose to be the "world police" yet again and look at the costly mess.
Why does president bush find life so precious that he wont even sign the bill for stem cell research, but he sends our healthy young men and women over there to die everyday?
He is a fu*cking moron and anyone who defends him is a bed-wetting idealist.

Nope, Vietnam grew to become right into a fulfillment in each and every militia factor, politically it grew to become right into a failure because of fact the media did not something yet lie. yet Iraq grew to become into additionally a fulfillment, and eco-friendly zone is crammed with not something yet bullshiitee. there have been WMD's in Iraq, chemical weapons are WMD's and Saddam had actually loads of them. Plus the government is stable, it has yet to announce any formal family with Iran.

all the way !!!
No one can control the mess in Iraq, not even the Mighty U.S Marines stationed over there, all what is happening is simply they are being killed one by one.
The only person - in my opinion - who can bring back the order to Iraq is Saddam Hussein ; for he is the only man who knows how to control his people. He is ruthless I know, but it takes a man like that to rule a country like that.
Therefore, yes it is a big mistake the Iraqi war.

Did we get the "whole truth" for reasons why we are there now? Probably not but we SHOULD have gone in there in 95-98.

The people who don't support the war are the only mistakes out there. This war is justified because we need to rid the world of evil. The only way to stop hatred is to fight them with every ounce of energy we have.

I agree, we should put sadam husein back as ruler. He was the only one that kept those barbarians in a fist. Nobody dared to move when he was in power. Now look what happened. Those people don't appreciate the gift of freedom they have received. If they don't appreciate it, they don't deserve it.
Freedom does not come easy. You must fight for it. They are fighting AGAINST freedom. Give them back sadam

NO! Have you been there?? Until you have been there keep your mouth shut. I don't care what one person out of thousands who is seeking for themselves says. 99.9% of our troops knows the truth and how it feels to free people. To help them and to receive true thanks, love and appreciation for our sacrifice. Unless you have been there you can not talk, let alone have comment worth time and effort.
