This sounds like you may have punctured the ear drum, or you do not dry your ears after you shower or bathe. If I do not dry my ears, I hear a rushing sound as well. It can last for several minutes or several hours.

In your case, if this has been going on for a long time, I would see a doctor to have you ears examined. And let him prescribe any medication you may need. Just be sure to describe the noise, any accompanying symptoms --if any--, the length of time you've experienced it, and any medications or foods you are allergic to.
