you're funny or gross, maybe you have to much time on you're hands, if you want to smell something try my dog;s farts!

all the "fart molecules" travel in the air when you fart
beacuse of the encolsed space, the molecules get trapped therefore smelling bad
but at the open, the molecules spread out so you wont smell much

Because you get less area for the smell to dissipate, and therefore more chances for you to get a nice waft of it.
