my jack chi and cat get a long very well is it normal for a 10 week pup trying to mate with cat and i can say some times the cat is not amused not sure that cat know what the dog is trying to do

Mounting is a form of dominance; your puppy is not sexually attracted to the cat, it's simply trying to say "my territory now, bub!" Don't worry, it's completely normal. Just scold the dog for being so posessive and it should stop.

i wouldn't think it's normal for a 10 week old puppy to try to mate, are you sure that's what he's doing? In any case, let them work it out for themselves. The cat will teach the dog that he doesn't like that and the dog will learn to leave the cat alone. So long as it's not turning into a fight, they'll be fine.
