I fast regularly...for religious purposes...not for dieting...although the effects are very nice. I get to fast every year for a month (the month of Ramadan, you might have heard of it). Muslims are obligated to do so in the ninth month of the Islamic calendar. No, the fasting is not continuous for a month, we only fast during the day and then break it at sunset. But those of us who are too lazy to get up before sunrise for a last time to pigout, the effects are the same. It ends up being like a 24-hour fast. We don't eat. We don't even drink water. It is very good for you but by the time you really start feeling the effects (which are nice actually, you feel a lot more energetic and appear thinner), the month is over. And after that I just personally lack the self-control required to fast when I don't have to.

Try it, you might like it. Do like a 12-hour fast.

Yes you can, but be sure to drink water! And by the way, this is NOT the way to "jump start" a diet! I can only wonder what kind of diet you're planning on doing. Do it in a healthy and smart way or you'll just end up gaining all the weight back + more!

Yes, but to start a diet will defeat the purpose and your body will cling to what it then gets and you wont lose any more weight than if you hadn't fasted. It is good to fast once a week (maybe not every week) to detox the body (drink plenty of water though).

It wont be good for your purposes.

Yes I can bt i wouldn´t use that for a diet because you wil bounce back too quickly and get all jell -o
anyway is a good exercise of will and self control wich you recquire for a diet but it makes no good for a diet itself

You can, but remember all you're really doing is eliminating water...not true 'weight'. When you assume your regular eating pattern, it will come back. Instead, try a high protein diet with lots of veggies...no grains, no fruit. (South Beach style). You'll lose fast.

Just eat fruit only. Roughly the same effect but your brain will not start shutting down your system and you will loose faster.

Yes, I have fasted for one or two days and prayed, the scriptures tell us to fast in secret in your closet. Meditate dayl and night and on the Lord the scripture are found in matt and in psalms.
