If you smoke, that could be the culprit (smoker's cough)...sometimes sinus drainage (from allergies perhaps?) can cause you to want to cough or clear your throat frequently, but you won't necessarily feel ill or under the weather...if you have been sick in the recent past, the cough may be a lingering side effect even after you feel well again...

The dairy product thang is a MYTH. Milk products have never been shown to produce more saliva or to alter it in any way.
You could be dehydrated, have smoker's cough, have a secondary infection from a past virus, have chronic bronchitis, asthma or asthma-like symptoms, or any number of things. Best bet is to get a check-up.

post nasal drip is common during allergy season try a saline rinse of your sinuses every other day it'll work wonders.
