look at your local animal shelter or humane society, this is kinder because you'll be helping an animal in need go to a good home. Maybe also look for ads in the paper.
I would reccomend getting a pair eventually, even if you want to start out with just one. the bird will be much happier this way.
I suggest getting some books about budgies from the library and reading some background info before bringing one home.
Alos make sure to bring it to the vet soon after you get it, especially if you get one from an ad.
good luck, budgies are wonderful pets if cared for correctly.

Budgies shouldn't be too expensive-you only need to buy the bird (which should be 20 bucks or less), a cage (the most expensive item), and food. But it definitely is a good decision to get one. I suggest only getting one, because birds that are kept together become attached and will pay more attention to each other than to you. You want to buy one so that it will learn to bond with you. Also, try to find a boy budgie. They are much more talkative and playful. Good luck!

Budgies are great pets to have. If you want to tame them or teach them to talk you will have to acquire the first one, preferably the hen, tame it etc; then purchase the male tame him and place him into the hens cage when training completed, not the other way round. Budgies can be quite vicious so be prepared to keep them separate if they don't get on.

A good source for locating birds is to go to a bird show and ask any breeders if they would sell you their rejects, these are birds that are not up to show standard.

get 1 budgie because if u get 2 they ignore you, but if u have 1 u can teach it to talk and they like you more, i have had a budgie for 8years an she was brillant, thought girl birds are more aggressive than boys they are more intelligent, i have also had a boy budgie for 4 years he was lovely 2. do not buy 1 from a pet shop look in ur local paper for breeders.

contact me if u want anymore info

yes it is better to get a pair of budgies unless you intend to spend alot of time with one to give it alot of attention
i have six in a very large cage and they love each others company
you should be able to pick a budgie up in a pet shop for about 12-15 pounds ,make sure its a decent clean shop, and the birds look healthy and happy
alternatively check your local paper under the pet section people breed them and you can pick one up quite cheep lol
good luck in your search, you can find really pretty colours so search around

Look on The Budgerigar Society website. There is a breeder's directory where you can find a breeder near you.I recommend using a member of the Budgerigar Society as they will give you plenty help and advice and you can contact them if any problems or questions arise.Good Luck.

Try pets at home, they got loads of budgies for sale, around £17.

I like budgies. They're colourful and friendly.

If u get two budgies then it will be hard to teach them to talk...If u do want a bird that talks get a boy and blue or gray..U can tell if its a boy by the colour of the cere above the beak..Bluey purple for boys, pinky brown for girls..
