Romans 5:8 But God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us.

Difficult to chose one...there are so many of them I like!
Among the verses I really like is the one which sums up the whole story: "For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not persih but have everlasting life" John 3:16.
It says everything you need to know about God...
I just read what people said before me...I guess I can pick another one? ;-)
"Since you were precious in My sight, You have been honored, And I have loved you"...Isaiah 43:4...

I like the one about how people aren't supposed to "pray in the streets" but in the privacy of their own room. That's pretty much my only favorite because - with all due respect to you Bible foks - when I start hearing Bible verses coming out of someone I pretty much tune them out and get away from them as soon as possible.

"This is the day the Lord hath made. Let us rejoice and be glad in it." Psalms - I'm not sure the chapter.
It reminds me of my grandmother - it was her favorite verse. Once I found myself reciting it over and over one recent morning, and I thought it was weird that the verse would just jump into my head like that. Later in church, the pastor made reference to it in his sermon - which was on Palm Sunday so I totally wasn't expecting it. Felt like a little tap on the shoulder from God & my grandma...

Isaiah 45:7 - I form the light, and create darkness: I make peace, and create evil: I the LORD do all these things.
that challenges a lot of notions I hear xians espouse about their loving, benevolent god.
Is God willing to prevent evil, but not able? Then he is not omnipotent.
Is he able, but not willing? Then he is malevolent.
Is he both able and willing? Then whence cometh evil?
Is he neither able nor willing? Then why call him God? (Epicurus)

Psalm 100
Make a joyful noise unto the LORD, all ye lands.
Serve the LORD with gladness: come before his presence with singing.
Know ye that the LORD he is God: it is he that hath made us, and not we ourselves; we are his people, and the sheep of his pasture.
Enter into his gates with thanksgiving, and into his courts with praise: be thankful unto him, and bless his name.
For the LORD is good; his mercy is everlasting; and his truth endureth to all generations.
I don't know why this is my favorite, it just makes me feel good when I hear or read it.

1 corinthians ch 13 4-7
"4 Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. 5 It is not rude, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. 6 Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. 7 It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres."
because God loves us- thats how he loves us, and thats how we should love everyone else also.

The 23 Psalm
The Lord is my Shepherd;
I shall want for nothing.
He maketh me to lie down in green pastures:
He leads me beside still waters.
He restoreth my soul:
He leadeth me in the path of righteousness for His name sake.
Yea though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death,
I will fear no evil: for thou are with me;
Thy rod and thy staff keep me comforted.
Thou preparest a table before me in the presence of my enemies:
Thou anointest my head with oil;
My cup runneth over.
Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me ALL the days of my life:
and I shall dwell in the house of the Lord forever.

For the bread of God is he which cometh down from heaven, and giveth life unto the world. Then said they unto him, Lord, evermore give us this bread. And Jesus said unto them, I am the bread of life: he that cometh to me shall never hunger; and he that believeth on me shall never thirst. John 6:33-35 (KJV)
