give them an acceptable activity to do. get a baby pool at walmart and fill it with sand or dirt for them to dig in. its end of season, you can probably get one of those pools for less than $10

i had the same problem with my dog.

dogs dig because the are bored. (most of the time) or come across a good scent that they want to find out what it is.

give him LOTS to do and do NOT keep them outside UNSUPERVISED! it does not work.

lets use positive renforcement.
1st teach them leave it.
2nd when they start to dig tell them "leave it" and direct them to something that they CAN do. fill a baby pool with dirt or sand and hid their favorite treats so that way they CAN dig there.
give them kong toys, lots and lots of toy stuffed with peanut butter or there favorite treats!

try that first that way they are not getting negative renforement.

another thing to try is take their own poo and fill the holes with it, this is a HUGE struggle to break this it took almost 2 MONTHS to break my dogs habbit.

Dont leave them outside un supervised is your best bet.

They are board so they dig. Try more excerise and mind stimulation games.

Teach leave it and when they start to did say leave it and give them a kong or something.

well i have two answers one you can spray him\her with some water when you see him do it or you can take him\her over to the spot he\she is doing it and take the skin at the back of the neck and twist it. that's what i do and my dog is doing much better!
