Isn't that kinda hypocritical? FYI I tend to sympathize with athiestic beliefs more than Christain beliefs but c'mon guys, can't we all play nice? Some of the cruelest things I have read have come from people claiming to be athiest saying how dumb Christians are, etc.

It all boils down to faith. Christians can accept things and Atheists have to challenge with logic. As was once said by some dude "An increase in knowledge leads to an increase in sadness". I think atheists can sound a little bitter sometimes. I am in neither camp (A person calling themselves an atheist is defining their identity by something they do not believe in; what a waste of time)

Would you rather be clever or happy? I'm not sure if it's possible to be both...

Why not!? Having your faith tested is a wonderful thing for a christian. Unless you are weak of faith, then at the time, it can seem somewhat of a trial.
I must say though, the most cruellest of comments I have ever had the misfortune to read on here come from the alledged christians. if you want, I can email you an example, as to put the link on here, would violate the terms and conditions, risking my answer being reported.
Without sarcasm, I remind you that the bible DOES inform you that you will be persecuted for your beliefs! I should know, I used to be a great christian!! You should thank those that harrass you, as they are confirming the words of your book, are they not? Perhaps thinking of it like that will help you feel less hurt? It CAN be hard, I know, but one cannot appreciate the good, without experiencing the bad!
(aside from all that, there are only a few genuine outspoken christians worthy of respect on here, the rest tend to happily spout hate and hypocrisy, unlike the other religions, so that could go some ways towards explaining some people's attitudes to christians, as it IS easy to generalise, isn't it!)

All the best.

Thank you, Im glad you said this...
Since I am a Christian every time I ask why some Atheists do this... I get flamed or get messages from Atheists tells me Im "slandering" and Christians are JUST as hostile... And I admit that sometimes the Christians say mean things but I've yet to see a post by a Christian putting Darwin or any Atheist in a sexual situation, or some other vulgar attempt to be witty. As far as "dumb" goes, Id say its probably an equal accusation on both sides, but the most hateful vulgar posts Ive read have been from some "Atheists"

"dumb Christians..."

Hey, if the boot fits...

If someone comes online and professes that evolution is a sham because "monkeys are still around" or "I've never seen hydrogen turn into a person," they deserve to be called out on their ignorance. It takes about 15 minutes of research to get the fundamental concepts of evolution, even if you choose not to believe it! But if someone is not willing to put in that time, but still thinks they can successfully enter into a creation/evolution debate, they're being grossly ignorant, and should be told so.

Actually its been logically provan that Christians are the backbone of the country, atheists mock Christians because they dont retaliate in irational ways like muslims do. atheists are wimps and only pick on inocent Christians, they woulnt say anything meen to a muslim, and if they did then thats them on the blowup list. Christians dont act out and only do things to help, scientificly, logically, financially, politicaly and charitaly. So dont bend the backbone buddy or it will snap.

the good news is that if the athiests are right and there is no God then we can all do what society will allow without regard to judgment day, and if the christians are right then the athiests will burn in hell... of course if muslims are right then we all get like 100 virgins so i'm going with that

Because the Christian Right is trying to get "Creationism" Taught in our Public Schools using my Tax Dollars!

They are also trying to undermine "Science" in an effort to further their "Religious Agenda"!

I for one am not going to sit around and let our Country be driven back into the age of "Burning Witches" by the "Religious Dogmatic Ones" and their "Biblical Babble".

I hope that makes it clear ;-)

Because Christianity teaches clearly about God.
Because many Christians today depend too much on their leaders rather than on true science and true religion, that is on God Himself. Christ has returned as He did promise, but they refuse to seek Him like the Jews at His first advent.
Because there are also believers in disguise in Christianity.

Most of those are Christians trying to make atheists look bad. Both sides do it, so I don't complain, because you can't defend either without being a hypocrite.

It would only be hypocritical if I was always complaining that christians picked on me. I'm not. So it isn't. They can pick on me if they want, I'll take it and dish it right back out. Nothing hypocritical there.
