Is it better to put a product on your hair before you straighten it or just straighten it without any products, and if it is good to use a product could you give me some names of some good ones that leave your hair smooth and shiny.

Its better if you put some product in your hair first because it will protect your hair from damage and it will actually help to keep it straighter longer.

I like Loreal Hot Straight.

I have very curly hair and I love Aveda products. I use Hang Straight and Light Elements Smoothing Fluid. I use a little of both on wet hair then blow dry straight then use a ceramic flat iron. Be careful with the smoothing fluid, using too much will make your hair greasy.

I use clinique shampoo (cost around £8 - but lasts a long time) - then blow dry your hair - and then I use ghd professional iron oil- by Jason Shankey co.uk - (look up web site to order) - which smoothes my hair - I then use my ghd straighteners - and a bit of serum, which you can purchase from boots. My hair is naturally thick and wavy - but these products smooth my hair out !

I have really thick wavy hair... so when i straighten my hair this is what i do.
1: take a shower.
2: towel dry the crap out of my hair.
3: blow dry.
4: put a small palm full of Frizz Eaze or "Silk Therapy" from roots to ends. (not too much though, then it just gets oily)
5: straighten.

it only takes about an hour total for all of this!
good luck :)

My hair is wavy, so I understand your problem. In my opinion, you should always use a hair protectant. (Nexus -hair protexx [CVS]) This really helps to m of your straightener. If you want the sleek look, I also would recommend Garnier Fructis Sleek and Shine Weightless Anti-frizz serum. It works like a charm but you have to blow dry your hair straight after!! Your hair will feel and be healthier in no time! Good luck, I hope this helps you!

I have found that using a shampoo designed to smooth your hair along with a flat iron works nicely. Then, I apply a lightweight product to my hair after styling. Make sure it isn't too greasy.

Blowdry it after washing using a flat brush, and smooth it down while drying.

Hope your hair looks sexy girl!

Speaking from experience I use Ceramic Silk thermal protection (available at Sallys Beauty Supply) and every few days when I don't go straight I saturate my hair , after washing, with Sunsilk 24/7 cream Hydra TLC. It's a gel/conditioner in one. It smells awesome and it leaves your hair smelling totally awesome.

*I find it better to not put any products in your hair before straightning. I wet it down in the morning, and then blow dry, then straighten. After that I put in any products I need.*

i straighten my hair everyday and people always ask me how i keep it soo healthy and shiny. and ill tell u what it is. i use john Freida straightening shampoo and conditioner. then i use John Freida frizz ease hair serum extra strength. then i towel dry my hair and then use frizz ease straightening spray. then ill either blow dry it and then straighten it or let it air dry and then straighten it in the morning. but either way, it leaves my hair silky smooth!!!! i ♥ it!!!!
