Definitely see a doctor - I've seen children react in this way when they have a strong allergic reaction to cats/dogs/food, etc.

Something is causing the hives. I had the same problem and think it may have been the laundry detergent we were using. Benydryl will help them disappear and there is some kind of cream we used but I cannot for the life of me remember what it was. If he/she keeps breaking out in hives you will need to see a doctor because if it gets serious or in their throat some serious consequences may follow. I would call or go see a doctor if it persists.

My son one time broke out in hives because of some medicine
he was allergic to (sulfur). There is a big difference between rashes an hives. If it has been this long you really need to see
the doc just soon as possible to be on the safe side because the hives should be making her/him itchy. Rashes are normel for little ones mostly due to the heat but hives are not!

Yes! 2 of my children broke out in hives, at an early age.
One son was allergic to a certain kind of Christmas tree. another son was allergic to bananas.. If he ate one or two , he was O.K.Anymore than that , he broke out.
I, myself did not get Poison Ivy till I was 34.Then it got worse every year. Now , if I get it , I need a shot as it turns into blood poison. Allergy's seem to build up in the body, Then boom! you break out.
Try Benadryl pills for the itching. and benadryl creams to put on the skin. If it persists , take child to Dr. This is nothing to mess around with. Just because there has been nothing in the past , does not mean they are not allergic!

I agree that she should be seen by her pediatrician. It could be caused by just about anything... from an allergy to the detergent you're using to a food allergy. My daughter had a similar problem and we were able to figure out that she has an allergy to molasses. You know your daughter better than anyone and it will probably ultimately be up to you to discover the cause of the hives. You can relieve the symptoms with children's Benadryl, but make sure you also keep trying to find out what's causing the reaction. Good luck!

Sounds like a food allergy, unless she is on medication she's allergic to. My husband only breaks out in hives when he eats eggs, even though he has other food allergies. If you can't narrow down the food yourself by elimination, you may have to see an allergist, just so you will know what foods to avoid. I work in a school and see lots of this, and the parent usually doesn't know their child has a food allergy.

My son gets hives also and it's attributed to stress or a stressful situation. Take note of what happens before the hives break out and you may see a pattern whether it be food, allergy, etc. Take the results to your doctor.

Isn't it the worst? The hardest part is figuring out what's doing it. It can be anything from your laundry soap, something they are eating, lotion, a pet...anything! I would do the obvious things first and switch Cheer Free for your laundry detergent, don't use dryer sheets, skip lotions or find a very mild one and then go from there. If all else fails, make an appointment with an allergist to get a test done on what your little one is allergic to.

Just a thought, cuz I haven't seen it mentioned above: roseola? My son had this last week. Had a fever for a few days, then nothing, then a rash for a few days. We thought he was experiencing some kind of allergy, but Benadryl was not helping at all. Come to find out, he was in the last stages of roseola.
