You all have probably heard this 100 times, but I have this really great B/F meaning he's nice and helpful most times, but the problem is he's boring! I'm a living for the moment person, meaning just that, I live for the moment. My B/F is a living for the future guy, always saving, always stashing, not ever going with the flow. Life is too short to just go to the movies all the time (which is what he likes to do all the time) I like trying new things, seeing all that world has to offer, where's he's too busy planning and putting everything in little boxes, it takes the fun out of it. I love him so he's a wonderful man, but I don't think were compatiable. I don't want him to change, it's not fair to ask him to change because it's who he is. He says it's because of his parents and they way they handled money(poorly his dad was a alcoholic). I tried telling him, he won't end up like his parents.

Old habits die hard? Any suggestions? No silliness, real people w/real answers.

I think there's a small misunderstanding here. This is not about money, it's the total opposite. Money is not everything..trust me it's not. To LatinGod: if you were standing here, I bust you in your mouth for calling me silly and so would he, go find yourself lost in traffic.

To everyone else thanks for answering I appreceiate your honesty.

I think you are both good for each other. You balance each other out. You can add something different but good to each others life.

Is it only a money issue or you just want to experience new, adventurous things together? There is a big difference.

Why not ask him to try something new...an activity you might find exciting? You can still have fun and not be bored by playing frisbee in the park, inline skating, or biking together. Neither requires that much money and is comparable to going to a movie cost-wise. Plus, you can talk to each other..something you cannot do during a movie. If he cannot compromise..then the relationship is probably degrading. Conversely, you must also compromise by not focusing too much on the money spend on an activity, but on the fun of activities instead. If you cannot have fun with him with or without money...it is not worth it. Hope this helps.

If you are truly bored with him and neither of you can change, you may have to end the relationship.

No offense, but I know a lot of women like to treat their boyfriends as if they were entertainment brokers, and that just isn't the role of a man in a relationship. Perhaps he really is just a very dull man, I know guys like that, though think carefully about whether or not he is boring or if you have demanding expectations of him.

Sounds more like you want him to spend money on you. Maybe you should date a old man.
