the slaughtering of all male babies under 2 i think. It was because he was afraid of another king taking his throne.

He ordered all the babies under 2 years old to be killed. and why because the wise men told the king that there was a new King born. King Herod did not want anyone to be king over him.

It was Herod. Ordered that all male babies under 2 years old be killed. He thought that if he did that, he could kill off the born king that he was told about in prophecy. Joseph and Mary were told about this plan in a dream and fled.
