12:32
Fear not, little flock, for it is your Father's good pleasure to give you the kingdom. SELL ALL YOUR POSSESSIONS, AND GIVE ALMS; provide yourselves with purses that do not grow old, with a treasure in the heavens that does not fail, where no thief approaches and no moth destroys. For where your treasure is, there will your heart be also.

Here Jesus says that you should sell all your posesions and let god provide for you.

Why don't you do this?
Jesus has told you to, so why dont you?

If you really had faith you would do this, why do you doubt?

How little faith you have!

For one, Jesus was talking about his discipiles.

Secondly, how do you know that what you have now was not provided by God? You living through and learning all you have to gain your accomplishments can be attributed to God if you see it that way.

Thirdly, have you sold all of your possessions? Do you have faith enough that God will plop down untold riches in front of you as soon as you sell all of yours off? That's not only illogical, but highly naive.

This, all coming from a viewpoint of a non-Christian :).

Who gave you authority to judge Christians. God said He would provide for our needs, but He also said, he who doesn't work, does not eat. Are you working or still living at daddy and mommie's house. In other words, grow up and get a real life.

Sometimes Jesus tells people to sell all their things to show them what is truly important to them. He told this to the rich young ruler (see Luke 18:18-29) to show him that he hadn't kept all of the commandments. Possessions in and of themselves are not bad, but they are if they become greater in value to us than God.

If you have really read the the bible then you would know that Jesus was talking to a person that he wanted to disciple. God says to not test him. Believers have common sense. WHERE'S YOURS?

Jesus was speaking of priorities.

He loved and was friends with many people who had riches and possessions. What He was saying was to put Him ahead of those possessions.

He also said if your hand offended you to cut it off and if your eye offended you to pluck it out. Most Christians have kept their hands and eyes intact. Jesus was trying to tell us what's really important.

What He is saying is to not store up treasures on earth that could sway one away from following Him, and that by following Him, God has stored up treasures for us in heaven -- For where your treasure is (earth or heaven), there will your heart be also (that is what you will seek).

Look who Jesus was talking to: His disciples. Next time Jesus comes up to me and tells me to do this (in context, it was so they could follow Him) I will. It's all a matter of willingness.
