www.orbitz.com lists the flights from least expensive to most expensive. But some airlines aren't listed like Southwest. But still check southwest they always have cheap plane tickets. Call the airline and ask if the give disconts to relitives of Navy people. Thst might help you out.

Flying is a fast efficiant way to travel, but you need to book soon if he graduates on August 25th. try cheaptickets.com to find reasonable fares. Also, American Airlines has a big operation in Chicago, so they may be a bit cheaper.

well, it depends on where you are flying. When flying domestically in the US, i always recommend Southwest Airlines or JetBlue Airways.
When I fly internationally, I either fly the country's airline (eg. If i'm flying to Iran, I fly Iran Air. If I'm flying to Canada, I fly Air Canada) , American Airlines, or United.
If possible, fly any of these on standby. If you aren't in a hurry, that is. They will give you a cheaper flight, in case you miss the first one.
The reason I fly the country's airline is beacuse usually, their main meeting point airport is the country of their destination.
For example, Hawaiian Airlines' main meeting point is Honolulu. You can get very cheap flights to honolulu if that is your final destination.
