Your entire religion preaches hate and intolerance, just in a passive aggressive way.
When one of you actually has the balls to say what every other christian thinks (they are better than you) you shun him.

To me, Mel is just awful, but at least he has the courage of his convictions.

I'm a Christian. MY religion DOESN'T preach hate and intolerance. Quite the contrary! I believe in, and practice love and charity to all. I am no better than anybody else, and nobody is better than me.

And I can honestly say I'm no more distant from Mel Gibson than I ever was. I don't think any differently of him now than I ever did. He's an actor. He makes good movies. I like his movies. He happens to have a problem with alcohol, and from what I've heard, he is getting help. A LOT of people have problems with alcohol, but that doesn't demonize them in any way.

It sounds like you're just trying to find something to jump on Christians about. But is this the best you could come up with? Nobody is perfect, so get off his case. And while you are at it, stop lumping all Christians into one "passive aggressive" group. That's too broad a generalization.

Thank you. And have a nice day.

Christian A differs from Christian B. Just like Muslim A may not act as radical as Muslim B. I am a christian and I cannot stand the few "knobs" that bring the rest of the religion down. Then again, non Christians have their "knobs" as well that are as divisive and are full of more contradictions than alot of Christians. I forgive Mel Gibson. I did not lose a single second of sleep behind the ordeal. Some people need to get their collective head out of their a**! To me the issue has nothing to do with religion, his beliefs or his remarks. Life goes on. This scenario with Mel Gibson will be overshadowed by another pointless celebrity newstory. The issue of my concern is that Mel could of endangered himself and others. Thank God that no one was injured. Alcoholism is one tough cookie to beat. I will continue to support Mel as an actor and a director. I enjoy his movies and vision. All in all, not every christian is like the version you mentioned. Get to know me. I despise the version of christian you mentioned. I wish they did not exist because they make it hard for "lost" Christians or non-believers to want to be exposed to the religion. I am an easy going guy and I don't shun him.

I'm sorry, but I don't know what part of Christianity you are referring to. I was raised a progressive Catholic to believe in acceptance of all people as Jesus taught.

I don't know if you are aware or not, but Jesus was a Jew. Therefore Christians and Jews have a similar faith up until a certain point. The Bible's Old Testament is the same as the Torah (Jewish Holy Book).

Mel Gibson is a product of his father's ignorance, not because of the Catholic Church. His father is a denier of the Holocaust, which means he doesn't believed it existed/occurred. If you grew up in a house with a parent who felt that way, you would grow up with a similar belief system until you were made aware of your ignorance. It's the same for all racists and bigots.

Mel Gibson has admitted he has a problem with alcoholism. It doesn't make what he said acceptable, but it does help us see his "true colors." Let's hope rehab helps him.

Now, how can we help you?

Well i'm not sure were you got your information from but I am a christian and i'm not distancing myself from Gibson and neither are other Chrsitians I know. So before you make judgements and accusations you should ask all the christians instead of just some of the christians that you know. So to asnswer your questions. Not all christians are distancing from Mel. For all have sinned (even you) and fall short of the glory of God.

Kubrickian,
Do you realize tht everything you said about me, a Christian, is a lie?

I like Mel Gibson. I agree with you, he has a lot of courage. But you are not. You lied to make a point? You know all Christians are the same right?

You're a jerk.

First of all, it is the liberal media that has done all of the bashing! Christians have remained silent on the issue overall.
YOU ARE INCORRECT AS WELL!!!
We acknowledge that everyone struggles with their faith. Mel Gibson is no different. Even I struggle with it sometimes. It is just a way God uses to draw us closer to Him.

Mel screwed up. We all do. I have not shunned him for anything, because I am a sinner myself.

My opinion I am a catholic. I love Mel Gibsons movies, I loved braveheart, But I don't like all the hype his comments are getting. The poor guy is a hevy drinker addmitted alcholic and hes going into treatment. I think everyone should give him a break. He was drunk when he made the comments, who cares. I forgive him. god forgives him. People who are drunk sometimes say and do things they normally wouldnt when their as drunk as he was.I wish people would worry about their own problems. Have you every been to church. What are you like 12. Well As a catholic we catholics and christians love everyone. the church I attened teaches me to love and care for everyone no matter what. Your entire religion preaches hate and intolerance comment i pErsonally find offinsive but you have a right to your opinion just like i do. I RECOMMEND YOU FIND ANY CHURCH AND TRY IT. pEACE OUT.SORRY FOR MY BAD TYPING .

Am I right that most of Hollywood is what most Christians would call garbage? So the one man who would make a truly Christian film on the first time he makes a horrible mistake is to be called the worst of the worst? He only seems to be worse because he had high expectations and made one mistake?

I think we do not have the right to judge Mel Gibson, or anyone else. Why do all of you holier than thou types put him down. I am a Christian and I do not put him down. He made a mistake. Get over it and pick on someone else for awhile.
