before the flood everything on earth was vegetarian even people... I cant remember where it is documented in the bible but it is there. It doesn't say the word "vegetarian" but it does say something to the effect of "herbs and green things where made to eat" or something like that if I find the exact place I will re-post the answer or email it to you
Found it ****
Genesis 1:29-31
29 God said, "Behold, I have given you every herb yielding seed, which is on the surface of all the earth, and every tree, which bears fruit yielding seed. It will be your food.
30 To every animal of the earth, and to every bird of the sky, and to everything that creeps on the earth, in which there is life, I have given every green herb for food;" and it was so.
31 God saw everything that he had made, and, behold, it was very good. There was evening and there was morning, a sixth day.

Because of the food chain effect, this relates to the more to the Christians who believe in Darwin. So, the answer depends on the specific sect of Christianity you're looking into, the bible is very open for interpretation. I do believe that dinosaurs were put here for the purpose of natural selection. To control the population and make sure that it didn't get too large, and ruin the "natural flow" of the environment. We still have certain species that eat others, and they are just part of life. Even humans, the oh so invincible species, can be killed off. Disease is a means of population control. For the sake of adding in a side not, I am not a die hard christian, nor am I a christian. I am simply educated on the matter.

The creation story is not meant to be historical fact. It is meant to explain something about the nature of God--that he created everything, including a really nice planet that humans have selfishly screwed up with war, sinfulness, pollution, etc. There is nothing in Genesis about dinosaurs for the same reason there is nothing about DNA, nuclear energy, or REM sleep: the people for whom the story was intended--nomadic Stone Age tribes--would not have had any idea what the story was talking about. Plus the story was passed on for generations before there was written language, so it may have changed a bit from the original. You can really tie yourself in knots when you take the Old Testament literally.

My guess is that all dinosaurs were herbivores at first. When Adam and Eve sinned, God killed at least one animal to make their clothing. He then booted humanity out of Eden. Perhaps it is then that the meat-eating dinosaurs came about. (Until the point of God making clothing for Adam and Eve, there was no death on Earth.) When God flooded the Earth at the time of Noah, the dinosaurs were wiped out.
Again, this is only my personal opinion that I developed from the context clues in the Bible. The dinosaurs are a gray area at best.

There are dragons and sea serpents in the Bible, and they seem to fit in just fine. Even after the garden of Eden.
The dinosaurs didn't eat every other animal.
Rather, they died off because they were too big and there wasn't enough to feed them.
Part of me believes that dragons and dinosaurs came along when the devil started taking over the earth, and thus were absent in the Garden of Eden.
(Maybe a by-product of evil existing in the world. Dragons are mentioned as far forward as Daniel in the Bible)

If you study, most carnivourous dinosaurs are in America or China or away from Iran/Iraq where the Garden of Eden was. The dinosaurs were destroyed by Noah's flood like the rest of the animals and humans who weren't on the ark. It all works according to science.

The Bible was written in a purposefully simple manner, and although many make a big deal about what is absent in the Bible, few recognize that what IS written there is a reasonable account of what science has discovered over the last 1000 years.
The link below answers your specific question. The website is an apologetics website, with research from scientists studying both scientific literature and Biblical scripture.

A comprehensive scan of the human genome finds that hundreds of our genes have undergone positive natural selection during the past 10,000 years of human evolution.
Genes are the instructions organisms use to make proteins. They are encoded in genetic material, usually DNA, and some come in different versions, called “alleles." Positive natural selection occurs when one allele is favored over another due to changes in the environment.
Researchers from the University of Chicago analyzed the genomes of 209 unrelated individuals from three distinct human populations: East Asians, Europeans and Yorubans from Nigeria. Each population contained roughly 250 positively selected genes; however, most of the affected genes differed depending on the group.
“This study addresses the question 'Are humans still evolving?', and the answer is 'Absolutely,'" study team member Benjamin Voight told LiveScience.

Before the fall, meat wasn't food. One thing too, just because He put Adam and Eve in the garden, didn't mean everything stayed in the garden. Remember Adam named all the animals before Eve was created, maybe they roamed or maybe God made sure they didn't step on His other creations, but there was no death in Eden. The first death was the blood shed (animal skin) to cover the nakedness of Adam and Eve, a foreshadow of the blood shed by Jesus to cleanse our sins.
