A micro winery is a lot like a home based business only a little bigger. A small mainly unknown name winery trying to make it into the larger market.

A very small winery. It's usually only sold locally. We have several in the city I'm from. The winery itself buys the grapes locally from several different farmers. They grow a few on the premises, but mostly it's other farmers. The farmers are able to make a slightly better living doing this than the other crops and they don't have to depend on the government to subsidize their income and pay them NOT to grow crops. (sorry for the rant)

A trendy name that is a take off from "microbrewery".

Micro wineries are just tiny wineries that don't produce many barrels of wine.
