Doctors have never been able to answer my question and they don't deem it important...

Not all the time...but sometimes, after I eat particular foods (not sure what triggers it), I get pain in my jaw and tongue, so severe, you can't talk, you can't move your mouth or swallow without feeling someone is stabbing you at the base of your tongue.

It has only gotten worse the older I get.

Do you have that pain? What did the doctors tell you it was?

Maybe you're allergic to certain foods.

I'd probably list the foods that trigger this and find out what ingredients they have in common.

This article says nothing about specific types of food triggering it but sounds a bit like what you describe. Maybe it will help.
