Is Bin Laden using Islam or Islam using Bin Laden?

Question

Rational people, worldwide, know very well that the doctrines of Islam directly give rise to more violence than any other religion, yet because Islam is called a "religion" it is protected from scrutiny.

We absolve Islam when believers take the Quran's exhortations to violence seriously...shouldnt it be the opposite? Bin Laden would probably be just a quite insecure shy man if not for Islam. Bin Laden isnt using Islam...Islam is usuing Bin Laden.

Some people rationalize that the terrorists would be doing violence otherwise, if they werent using Islam as an excuse....that may be true for Abu Zaraqawi who was a criminal before joining Islam but most of these other terrorist leaders dont have that background....their just insecure guys that Islam took advantage of. They just take the Quran literally...thats it...

If we dont deal with the root cause...we cant beat this...we really cant. Look, read the Quran...read it...Islamic violence makes a lot more sense after you read it.

Unfortunately you are right, but if rthere wasnt Islam, there would be something else..;religion has been used as an excuse for centuries, and I should think more people have been killed in "holy wars" and wars by conflicting religions, than by any other means

Actually, the cultures from that part of the world were quite violent before the rise of Islam. It seems to me that the violence is more a cultural phenomenon than a religious one. Islam has changed the culture but the culture likewise has changed Islam. I think the culture of greed and envy has resulted in a people that will take any faith no matter how peaceful and benevolent and warp it to violence.

However, yes, Islam endoctrinates violence and calls for murder and promises rewards to those who do so. And no, Islam is by no means peaceful. The only way for the children of Islam to find peace is to change their own culture and walk away from Islam.

I think it is too hard a task, the people of Islam to go to something better. I regret that, because I see all people as my brothers and sisters and I hate that they may never taste of the freedom and righteousness that is laid out for their benefit due to their loyalty to a culture of doom.

It's muslim symbiosis. Both benefit, bin Laden recruits fresh meat and Islam is filling its belly with new faithful fooled by the promises of lies (111 virgins and a palace in the afterlife, if you die serving Allah).

As for the extreme actions in the name of religion, Christianity has it's fair share of similar action. Bombing abortion clinics? That is bad too.

Holy war? The haves vs. the have-nots? Muslim nations might get rich from oil exportation, but the general populace does not see a dime of that money. I think it's about maintaining the status quo, keep the peasants down, "let'em eat cake" and live as the world will never change, so they can keep their power, money and pride.
That is consistent with not letting women have equal rights.

Consider the ability for the muslims we speak of to interact with a strong-willed woman. These people seem only able to attack what they do not understand and do not have the ability to adapt to sociological evolution.

But it may just come down to kicking those who can't get along out of the sandbox.

If they take the Koran literally, then they are, by definition, fundamentalists. Religious fundamentalism has a history of being adopted by the psychologically unstable as a way to find answers to every problem. If Bin Laden were a white guy from South Carolina then he would be bombing abortion clinics because God told him to.

i'm in simple terms questioning, which you adult males completely did no longer come across a single wreckage of the mentioned airplane that hit the Pentagon on 9/11. Then how are you able to be so particular that it became into Al-Qaeda or Osama. i think of, in case you fairly have the balls, you should ask your guy or woman president (G. Mainstream religion isn't the problem here. It is always the radicals that make each religion a bad name. Look at what a bad rap we get as christians because of all the people that tell people that they are going to Hell. It's not the religion, its the people that take religion to a radical extent.

"Islam" doesn't take advantage of or use anybody. Islam is a concept, not a being. It exists only in people's minds. It is the people who are the abusers, not the concept.
