I have noticed a very high percentage of responses to people's questions that seem to be coming from atheistic viewpoints. If a person doesn't believe in the existence of God, why would they "waste" their time in this category? I don't believe in the Easter Bunny, and I don't waste my time trying to convince E-Bunnians of their foolish beliefs.
So if YOU are an atheist, and you are reading this, please share with those who will read this your reasons for being here. Also, if you would, could you explain why you are trying to convince those of us who are happy in our relationship with God, why we would be better off living like an atheist, with nothing to look forward to, and nothing better to do with our lives than to grab all the crumbs we can before we die. If you have intelligent responses, please share. Otherwise, you're better off finding a simpler question where you have a chance at grabbing 10 points.

Some food for thought, since we are certainly thinkers here, aren't we? This country was founded by Christians. Christians who relished freedom. This nation is the greatest nation the world has ever known simply because of the moral compass we were given by men like Jefferson, Adams, Henry, and Paine. Christian values. So if you feel Christians want to "rob you of your freedoms", well, Christians gave 'em to you! And perhaps if you examine the situation a bit closer you might see that many times they are trying to protect this nation from moral decay. It's like brushing your teeth. Do you consider trying to maintain healthy teeth and gums an infringement upon your teeth's freedom to rot and fall out if they want to?
These answers highlight what I was trying to draw out. An atheist simply doesn't believe God exists. Someone who goes way out of their way to try to strip people of their faith in God, is not an atheist. They are anti-God. These are the people who lust for control.

I didn't know this site was ONLY for believers in one particular faith or spirituality? I guess I consider myself an open minded person and by reading and listening to other peoples view points I can better understand them. It doesn't mean I have to agree, and that's the thing I like about thinking for myself. I can be open to other points of view. Just because a person is an atheist doesn't mean they aren't interested in what other people have to say.

Is this the "Only if you believe in god" section.?
I am an Atheist. I have read and studied the bible. I have attended chruch. I have studied many different types of religion. And after all of this I made an informed and educated decision to not believe in god.
Why do so many believers tell me I should not be here because it is the religion/spirituality section? I can ask/answer iintelligently about religion. Why don't I have a right to have a disscusion about god?

I would rather be 'grabbing all the crumbs I can' than believe in something that won't happen (i.e. life after death). How many hours do you sit in church placating your mind with nonsense that is supposed to make you appreciate your suffering here on Earth?
I would rather do what I do based on my own thoughts, rather than feel guilty for every pleasure I give my body because "God" says it's wrong.
For background I grew up in church (20 years) and made the decision on my own to stop going. And I come to the religion section of Yahoo! Answers merely because it is the most fun (who wants to answer questions like "Where do I find lyrics for this song?" all day long). Nothing like opposing viewpoints to get the blood flowing!

I think when George W. Bush claims to be in communication with 'God' and thinks 'God' wanted him to steal the Presidency, to take the nation and much of the world into war -- and when Christians put their noses into the freedoms of others, trying to limit or ban their rights, then non-believers have the right to enter a dialogue with Christians and criticize their beliefs.

People are asking questions, I have answers. Simple. Isn't that what this site is all about? I'm not a computer, or the internet, either, but I could certainly answer those questions as well. I see you've been to the politics and government section. Are you a politician? Will you turn gay, or does it mean that you want to turn gay if you answer questions in the Gay and Lesbian section?

I am a agnostic, so thats close enough. I have posted a LOT of questions here only because I find bible storys interesting, even if I don't belive with my whole heart it really happened. Both of my parents are Christans but i'm been agnostic for a LONG time because it only seems logical.

I think alot of athiests are not sure of their beliefs.
And so they wonder...
And maybe that is Gods way of pointing them in the right direction.
I just wish there weren't so many Christians on the other end telling them they are stupid for their opinions. Thats not the way to help anyone.

to protect the innocent. think of it as a public service:
Faith is the nemesis of logic.
Faith is the destroyer of science and progress.
Faith is the slaughterer of freedom.
Faith is the destructor of individuality.
Faith is the fountainhead of ignorance.
Faith is the procreator of intolerance.

WenckeBrat - if your beliefs weren't based on superstition, you might get some respect for them.
I repsect your RIGHT to believe as you wish, but I do not have to respect your actual beliefs, especially if you are willing to believe somehting despite the lack of evidence for it.

Because everyone is entitled to their own beliefs and opinions, but not their own facts.
If religious folk were (as they used to) clamoring that the Earth was flat, I would be in the public square arguing against them.
If they shouted that the Earth was stationary, as they have, I would argue against them.
If they yelled that disease is caused by sin instead of germs, I would argue against them.
And now, as they cry that mankind was created in one magical *poof*, as opposed to evolving, I am arguing against them.

Maybe they have decided to make us all "correct the error of our ways". I am not sure why they bother to come to the religion category... except to try to make themselves feel superior to others. I don't put them down for their beliefs or nonbeliefs, therefore I expect the same courtesy from them.
