how do I get free (realy free) court records in Illinois?

In Missouri you can go to Missouricasenet and find your own court records, how is this done in illinois

Online search: Type in the county you live in or want records for and county recorder. Public records or documents. Depends on the county, you may only be able to get records of liens and judegements or you can get criminal and civil court info.

Or you can go to the courthouse. Depends on the county. Some are completely free and some are free to search but have to pay to get physical copy. Also juvenile court or family court may not release info.

I've been doing background checks and records searches online for years, as it is part of my business. I am a former detective, and currently a professional private investigator by trade. What I can tell you is this: You cannot obtain these records for free. You simply cannot. For every service provided online, there is typically either a one time cost, or a fee you pay every single month. Some services are better than others.

Some more expensive, some less. In my line of work, I am signed up for a service where I am billed monthly. Hello, I am a retired Police Officer here in the US and I can confirm to you that these types of records, for the most part, are not available to the general public. You won't be able to obtain them for free. That's the reality of it. Even if you came into the station for a particular police report to which you have a right to possess, you are often required to pay a small fee at the clerk's counter for the paperwork. There are however, to my knowledge, just a couple LEGITIMATE services that have full access to these types of records, and OFFICIAL approval/certification to provide them. The only other way to obtain this type of information is to be working in certain areas of the public sector, such as Police work. Same way as most anywhere else. Go to the courhouse and tell the clerk what you want to see. There will typically be a coin-operated copier handy, so you can copy anything you need.

Oklahoma has them all online to search through for free. Call your local courthouse to see if they have something similar. It is much easier than looking through files.
