I would think they would...but only if you have all of his information and it's accurate. You could have made up the bill of sale, and a story to go along with it for all they know. Give the parking people a call and explain you situation.

Did you sign over the title?

Have you tried contacting the kid yourself? They are coming back to you because the car hasn't been registered.

If you have proof of the sale, it is not your responsibility.

If a plate was stolen, report it.

Stand up for your rights as long as you have proof. The enforcement agency will continue to try and get the money. It is not your responsibility to make sure the car is registered after it has been sold.

That happened to my fiance. They told him his car was impounded and the title wasn't even in his name anymore. Sometimes the state is very slow about changing things. I got pulled over once because the police thought I stole my plates because they still matched my old car. Just call them and get it straightened out.

Yes, you are in the clear..... show them your records. A few years back I traded a car in to a dealer.

The police called me at work.... I don't know how they found out where I worked. They were chasing my old car and the people got out and ran. I told the police that I had traded that car in a couple of months before and gave them the dealers name..... I never heard anymore.

show proof of sale, and file a police report on the kid.

How in the heck did he get your plates? You gotta take them off before handing over the keys.

doubtful... you left the plate on it?

It sounds like the title was never transferred.... as far as the court is concerned it's still your car.

If the bill of sale is notarised MAYBE .... if it is something NOT hand writtend

If you show them the bill of sale and the transfer at the DMV, it is no longer your car and you are not responsible.

This happened to me once also.

Why not see if you can file a change of ownership on the car retroactively. I don't know if you can, but if the State will accept that, it would seem to get you off the hook.
