If you haven't yet found the right combination of meds to help you, don't be discouraged, there are lots out there. You and your doctor have to keep trying until you find the right combination. Also, you don't say how old you are, but doctors should be aware that some if these medicines have the OPPOSITE effect on kids and teens and make them even MORE depressed. In that case, the above advice would not be apropos. If you are in your teens, you might try slowly (over a period of a couple of weeks) going off your meds--with doctor supervision, of course--and see if you feel better.

Are you seeing a counselor on a regular--at least weekly--basis? If not, I suggest you start. Working through issues that are at the root of your depression is the only thing that will help in the long run. Good luck, and let me know if there's anything I can do to help.

Honey, I am going through the same feelings! It would help me a bit if you could tell me what exactly it is that's bothering you... but if you don't want to, then just realize that helping others will make you automatically feel good about yourself. If you bring a smile to someone's face or do one single kind act, it will automatically brighten you up.

All I know is that, often we are our strongest critics and our biggest enemies. We are often not that worse off as we fancy ourselves to be... somewhere I am sure there is beauty, brilliance and joy within you. Somewhere within you there is a soul who is capable of the impossible and who is yearning to be free -- but it is this fear and this sorrow you hold within yourself that is holding that soul a prisoner. You were made for a reason, and until you fulfill that reason you cannot opt yourself out of this existence you so seem to hate. This body, this existence is only temporary... this physical aspect of our lives is only temporary. What is perhaps endless, boundless and infinite is perhaps out contribution to the world and the space around us.

Perhaps Emerson's quote would explain my idea more: to be successful is to leave the world better than before, whether by a healthy child, a social service or even a garden patch. To be successful is to have won the love of friends, family and children , earn the respect of honest people, to have laughed much and given much of oneself, and to have lived in a true sense of that word. Nothing is worth and nothing is deserving of the pain you seem to be inflicting upon yourself; nothing is worth the hurt and the sorrow. When you are on your deathbed, what matters is not what you have gained or won, but what you have given to others as your legacy, and what you have been given in return. It is never too late...

Don't give up. Your life is a journey, and you don't know where you'll end up. This could be a hard time now, but you may look back and see that you had to go through this for a good reason! That you had something to learn from this experience. Take your medication for now, but start looking into alternatives, like hypnotherapy, biofeedback, massage therapy, and other non-medication treatments that will help you learn how to cope. Also, don't cut. Instead, ask for help! You are important!

Your life is the most important thing in the world. You are special in God's eye's.And there is nothing more precious then life. You are not worthless, and we have to keep holding on,no matter what.My son was there once, and he didn't go through with it.He is on medication now that helps him.He was diagnosed with borderline Schziphrinia. And he wants to do what ever it takes to get better. You were put here for a purpose,to love and help others.Someone out there needs your help!I'll be praying for you!

Overwhelming depression is exactly that. Outside of medications and therapy, you should try to find some focus simply for you. Try Yoga, wich is both physically demanding and mentally/emotionally relaxing. I am not a huge health buff, but grab a dvd and do it at home alone if you are not attracted to groups. Its definately worth an attempt.

i can guarantee that almost everyone feels this way sometimes. are suicidal thoughts a tendency in your family? if they are, you may have to continue on medication. find stuff that you enjoyed doing before and try do that. (go to the movies, coffee with friends, go to a concert, etc.) but if it does not pass. seek help! everyone is worth a lot!

Hi there,

Attempting suicide is not an answer. It is good that you are taking the first step by posting a thread here seeking help.

Talk to your friends/ family members whom you trust, seek professional counselling, go to Church and appreciate being alive.

God can help you. Talk to Him :)

I hope you are well........
