My best friend in college had it too. He was hospitalized many times, and eventually had a section of intestine removed. It's not common, but not all that rare either.

My son was diagnosed a couple of years ago. He is doing well with it, as long as he remembers to take his medicine. I feel for your family. Hope they all stay happy and healthy.

i do my fiance has it and has since he was 12 years old.. he is 31 right now and he is at his worst he lost so much weight and needs it treated so bad.. make sure you keep up on it or it can get soooooo bad ...

my mom has it. she's had it since she was in her twenties. i don't know how much that's going to help your 14 year old though.
