He doesn't hauck a logie or anything....but he makes big loud juicy raspberries, and he spits and slobbers everywhere.

He does this to get a reaction out of other kids. Unfortunately his 13 month old baby sister thinks it is HILARIOUS and giggles with delight. Which of course encourages him.

Today at Daycare he was spitting all over, trying to entertain the other kids, and he even spit in the face of one of the teachers. He spent quite a bit of time in time-out today.

If you ask him "Isaac, what's the rule about spitting?" He says "No spitting, it's bad".

So what the heck does he keep doing this for? How can I get him to change the behaviour?

I would try 2 things. First I would tell him a lie...I would tell him that Daddy (or any favorite super hero) doesn't spit because spitting is for babies. Then ask him if he is a baby. His answer will surely be no, then tell him that you are glad, you like when he is a big boy. If he does continue have the school sit him down for few minutes (schools don't call it time out, but thinking time works too). If you are consistent it will work.

You could start by taking away his favorite toy for so long, say a day, every time he spits. Maybe take away a new toy every time he does it if his favorite is already taken away. If he keeps it up, put him in time out for 5 min. or so. making them stand in the corner is much worse than sending them to their room too, plus you can keep an eye on him and make sure he is not playing during his time out. As far as the baby sis laughing, there's not much you can do there... Good luck!
ps, the only thing bad about putting soap on his tongue is he could have an allergic reaction. I had done this to my son for lying, come to find out not long later he was allergic to some detergents.

When I worked in childcare, I had a little boy who would spit all the time. After speaking with his parents, everytime he would spit he would have to spit in the tiolet for 3-4 mins. (1 min. for every year of age) He also had to wait 3-4 mins to play or do something fun after the others. After about the second or third time, he stopped.

I have a for year old brother, and im very good with him, and he actually used to do this. what i did was say something like, "Batman never spits" because he is OBSESSED with Batman. Now, this may not work for you, but try something else he likes, and see if it works. if it doesnt, which it may not, take someting from him away, like a small toy that he likes, and tell him that if he doesnt stop the spitting, he wont get it back. those are things my parents and I do, and you might try them if you want. but spanking doenst work, because young kids love getting a reaction, thats why they do these things. so quickly and curtly jsut take something away maybe, and thne ignore him right after and see if he stops.

Give him a consequence and stick to it:
"If you spit again, the play date ends immediately, or the teacher is instructed to give you a time out, or put you in the baby room for a while."
The key is to stick to it every time. He'll soon stop.

Oh my have you people ever heard of child abuse? WOW! I hate to see your children. If he sees that you are paying him attention each and everytime he does this he'll continue to do so. At this age it's all about attention they crave it. If you pay him no mind several times throughout him doing this it'll show him that's old and you are no longer going to react to it. Hitting and washing mouths out and etc.... doesn't always work these days, sometimes they do it three times worse to react against you hitting them. But most of all he's a boy, they like gross things, and you can only hope for the best that he'll grow out of it!!

Put a SMALL dab of liquid dish soap on your finger and run it across his tongue or gum line. This works for bad words too.
I did this as a last resort with my son and it only took about 3-4 times and that was 4 years ago.

Make him clean it up .....yep even on the sidewalk pull out a tissue and say Issac your mess buddy we aren't going anywhere till thats cleaned up.

No , rewards no nothing until it's clean.

If he refuses then spank him and point him right back at the mess he made and hand him the tissue .
