great news for your son! if the reg is wrong on the ticket then its not his fine. for all your son knows, someone with the reg on the ticket may have driven by at just the right moment and decided to try his luck by putting that ticket on your son's window. and apart from anything else, if your son doesnt pay then they wont be able to trace him because the dvla dont have him as the owner of the car.

As the wrong "reg mark" (Registration/Number Plate) was used, the ticket is invalid. The only way for the fine to be valid now is if photographic or video evidence is used.

Put simply, you can throw away the ticket if you wish to, however it is advised to keep the ticket for a while just in case.

Kind Regards,

Your son is sooooo lucky. Definatly keep the ticket though and then when they start sending reminders to your son he can have such fun informing them of their mistake and letting them know that on this occasion they will not be stealing money off innocent people.

Legally he's in the clear as the reg dosen't belong to him.

Legally he is in the clear as ALL details have to be correct.
However, if your son was over the line or went over the time, then perhaps its a warning for him to be more careful next time.
Can you let me know who his guardian angel is please!!
