what do you think of traditional vs. new -aged churches? Do they really match up?

I recently learned that pentacostalism is very hard on women ( which I noticed throughout my life) and was concidered a cult at one point.
I was raised in a black, carribean pentacostal small church.
I recently went to college and found a nice church that seems religious but is much diffrent from what I was raised in. It's mixed race and people dont really wear "sunday best" it's very come as you are. I dunno maybe later in my life I may change my denomination? They seem VERY sincere, but

what do you think people?

Well...I attend a non-denominational church. It's an awesome place to worship! It's strictly Holy Bible based and taught. We have a Spirit filled Church...they urges us to have a relationship with Jesus Christ and push away from playing "church." And again, it's an amazing place to worship.

We don't worry about what we wear (although, making sure your clothes are clean is important) it's not a fashion show or contest. We don't worry about what we listen to or watch on TV (outside of Church) if we are Spirit filled, we will know what is good for our minds and souls. We are there to learn about Jesus Christ and apply what he taught 2000 years ago and how it still applies to our lives today.

I try not to get stuck in the "denominations." Sometimes, they get caught up with religion, ceremonies and legalism, like the Pentecostals. ((Not that I'm picking on them.)) Some legalism: you must listen to this music, not watch TV, women wear your hair long and no pants, etc.

They are taking something common and treating it Holy and that by definition is legalism.

Religion = ceremonies and rules that man uses to reach God.

Relationship is God's way of reaching us, through Jesus Christ.

If you are looking for a new church, find a Spirit filled Church that urges relationship with Jesus Christ and not being religious. One that teaches the Holy Bible and is willing to love everyone!

Grace to you and God Bless!

Part of the problem is that scriptural Christianity and the lives of people here in America tend to differ. At the root of it, Christianity holds that Christ is superior to man; not equal to man (man is a false god; Gen. 3). All men make mistakes; (for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God. Romans 3:23).
There is a man-made old testament of Genesis-Malachi, and the scriptural old testament; i.e. the law of Moses. (Per scripture, the old testament was done away; Hebrews). The Jews were told to have two or more witnesses (about three times Deut. 10-20), and the Christians were given the same command (Matt. 18:16, 2 Cor. 13:1). When this concept is applied, one finds the 'old testament' is the law of Moses. My 'two or more witnesses' for that assertion include Joshua (Joshua 8:31), David (2 Kings 2:3), Solomon (1 Kings 8:9), Nehemiah (Nehemiah 8:1), Daniel (Daniel 9:11-13), Malachi (Malachi 4:4)i, Jesus (Matt. 19:7-9), God the Father (Matt. 17; in effect he backs up whatever Jesus his Son says), and the apostle Paul. (The law is referred to as the old testament (KJV), many other English versions translate it as old covenant in 2 Cor. 3:13-14). The law of Moses starts in Exodus 20. Perhaps this is part of why the beast in Revelation 17 is the USA, and the harlot Babylon is the leadership of the USA. (See what happens to the beast and harlot in Revelation 18).
God apparently had me think of this text recently; Acts 18:24-28 (please read) regarding Priscilla, Aquilla, and Apollos. Apparently, Apollos was eager to grow. I hope many Christians in this country presently are in the Apollos category.

You don't find God at church. You find God in your heart. You go to church to find other people who support your walk with Christ. The most important thing is your relationship with him. As long as a church sticks to the absolute truths found in the bible and sticks to the original text without adding or taking anything away, they're doing good. Beware of "politically correct" churches that are swayed by modern politics or change their view on something because of the media, but modern worship music and casual dress policy are not a reason to discount a church body. As long as you feel the spirit with you, be peaceful, God is with you. Jesus said that he will be wherever anyone gathers in his name. One of the most successful campaigns of the enemy is the separation of the churches. We have to make friends, not enemies of other believers even if we feel that their worship methods are misguided.

God bless.

Don't worry about what's on the sign as much as what the people believe! as long as what they say lines up with the bible, it doesn't matter what denomination it is! I have been Quaker, Baptist, Pentacostal, Methodist, Inter-denominational, And Non-denominational, but through all that one thing hasn't changed. I'm still a blood-bought, hands liftin', praise shoutin', pew jumping, on fire christian!

I think the problem with these "new tradition" churches, are letting too much of the world in. They're not teaching people to respect God's house! MO

Personally I find church life to be a stumbling block to my walk with Jesus. I find religion to be like the men that created it, evil in it's very nature. I will meet with other christian as often as possible but my faith in Christ isn't dependent on any religion.. Jim

I can't be part of any orthodox religion, because they do not treat women as equals.

I can't be part of any non-orthodox religion because they are all heretics.
