If they both spend time in separate areas most of the day then a comunal area like the living room they might be fighting over who gets to be there. If they are find and spend time with eachother except they fight in the living room I don't know what to tell you.
When they are fighting you should try to seperate them, by squirting them with water or yelling, but you might not want to get too close or they could hurt you. You might want to try to take time out of the day to spend with each cat individually so that they are both cool around you and know that you are in charge. Hopefully they will find the balance and figure out you are in charge of the living room.

Are you asking why or how to stop them? Do you notice how the fights start? There may be a toy or food or some other item that gets them going. I would try to remove it if possible. You could also try getting something like Feliway to spray in the room to help calm them while they are there. Not sure how well it works for that, but I do know it calmed my cat and got him to stop scratching my sofa.

They could be territorial about the living room because that is where their humans might spend a lot of time... and they are fighting over who gets more attention from you.

Is it also possible they only act up when you're around; that is, when they have an audience? I've noticed that among our kits. Could be your two are fussing primarily in the living room because that's where you are. Think?

How do you know for sure they only fight in the livingroom?

If they do, it's because one of them sees it exclusively as their territory.
