When I went Ranger school was 58 days (3-89). We had 4 phases. City phase in Ft Benning. Mountain Phase in Dhellonaga, GA, Swamp Phase in Fla, and Desert Phase at Dugway Proving grounds in UT. It was tough. We had an 52% Attrition in our class and we went thru in the Winter. Coldest I have ever been in my life in Fla. I was 50 deg and we were standing in the water up to our waists standing in the swamp and doing river crossings. The course has changed now. They only have 3 phases. They have increased the calorie intake and it is longer with more time in between phases. We had 5-12 hours break they get like 12-18 hours between phases. Not much time Any way to get your haircut get some food. and do laundry.

I was in the best shape of my life. I weighed 173lbs.could do 7 miles in 45min. Sit ups, pull ups and push ups till the cows came home. 12 mile road march in less than 2 hours. After the first 2 phases I weighed 151lbs. Ranger school is mostly mental. They call it Intestinal Fortitude. You will be surprised about what your body can do on 2 hours asleep for 8 days straight, under constant pressure with hardly anything to eat. You look at people differently after you get out when they are complaining about their little hurting or how they can't work all day without eating.

Good to see you again...

I wore a Ranger Tab under the left flap of my pocket when I was in the Marines. After going through Jump School at Benning, we where donned with the tab and permitted to wear it. In fact, a lot of Recon Marines wear a Ranger Tab, just not in visible sight.

Here's a trick to getting through anything...

whenever a negative thought enters your head, think about something else. For instance... "I can't make it, I'm not going to make it, There's no way, I'm just not cut out for this stuff" If anything along these lines comes up, cut off the thought and replace it with something just weird. I used to replace it with a thought of my buddy and I rowing a boat through his front lawn. The mental picture would be enough to put a smile on my face and change my mood. 90% of it is just attitude. If you can manage to keep your attitude positive during the worst pain of your life, then you'll be fine. If you focus on how bad it hurts, you will not make it.
