I empathize. Certainly a bond was formed, not so abstractly different than a human one. You don't state the age of the dashaund and certainly you may not want, or have room for another dog.
You might try another companion animal,,,even a kitten, and both will adjust, I promise. If you are committed to the comfort of the dog, it's unlikely you will supplant it's feelings of missing the Spaniel no matter what you, as a human try.

Sorry about your loss. What you could do is try getting another dog. You might get like a stuffed animal for your weinner dog as well, maybe even one that looks like your cocker spaniel. Dogs can get very depressed when they lose a friend just like humans. Pet you dog a lot, take her outside for walks, hmmmm also make sure your dog is eating. A lot of times they will stop eating because the are so depressed and of course that could make them very sick. Sometimes if they get really sick you can't save them. But the best thing is to give your dog a LOT of love

Of course he misses the spaniel. You might try a kitten that the dog can "mother" or "father" rather than another dog, as another dog would seem as you're trying to replace spaniel's beloved friend as if spaniel wouldn't notice.
Direct spaniel's attention in another direction, like a doggy park, etc., that he can get lots of attention with some other pups, who will know that he is sad and will also help to console him. I know it sounds dumb, but you'd be amazed.

Most of the time when dogs are that close when one of them dies then following pretty close behind the other will die b/c they feel like they can not go on much longer and just give up so i would get another dog to help the other but u do not have to forget about the weiner dog u don't have to think about her all the time though.

Like humans, dogs get accustomed to companions too! They lived together for a very long time. Yes, she is missing him tremendously. I think you should get another dog to keep her company. Until you do in the meantime, you should talke to your vet about getting something for her for anxiety. It may help her to heal. Sometimes dogs can miss their faithful companion so much that they make themselves sick and can possibly die too. Good Luck. Sorry to hear about your cocker. I am a Cocker breeder and I am very close to all of my dogs!

Normally dogs will be able to get over it pretty soon if it's owner can project a positiove energy. Your dog crys could be because she feels that your cant get over the dealth of your cocker spaniel. You dont need to baby her, just need to provide exercise, discipline, and affection. Your dog will soon be recovered and become a happy dog again.

yes the weiner dog is missing your cocker. The best thing is to get the dog a stuffed animal or something to sleep with. If that doesn't help then maybe get another dog. Try getting one from a rescue league.

She's mourning her old friend. If you're able to get a new dog, it might help her. Otherwise, give her lots of attention. If she's a snuggler, cuddle her a lot. If she loves to go on walks, walk her a bit more than usual. Just love her so she doesn't feel so alone. I'm sorry about your spaniel.
