Try Walmart.
My friends sister who is getting married this month just bought hers from there.
They are beautiful cakes and not very expensive.

Wedding cake is usually a costly part of your wedding. Usually a baker is going to charge you around $2.75 a slice for your cake. If you choose to have fondant on your cake it would start out around $4.00 a slice. Your local grocery store should charge a little under the $2.75 a slice.

Now one idea that you can do is have your baker make you the top piece of the cake as real cake and decorate styrofoam pieces for the remaining part of the cake. You will be charged for this but I do not believe it will be as much. You then would buy a sheet cake or two that would be served to your guests. You and your husband would cut into the real cake part in order to feed each other.

Good luck!

Safeway now has gorgeous wedding cakes! I kid you not! If you don't have Safeways, check your local grocery stores and ask around.

Often times, couples will have a small two tiered wedding cake for display and then have a big big sheet cake to serve. The cake is the same, but the man hours is less and thus will cost less.

Good luck with your cake!

Have a small weding cake and then have a sheet cake to serve. I've seen cupcakes served as the extra cakes.

Or you could have a small cake & then a dessert buffet where you could have different flavored cakes, tortes, bundts, whatever you'd like. Even a couple of sugarfree cakes for those on a restricted diet, or those with diabetes. Not everyone likes wedding cake.

We got ours from Publix, it was $220, including the delivery fee. You don't have to pay to have it delivered, but I didn't want to take the chance of someone else dropping it. And it was supposed to feed 75-100 people, but we had 110 guests and there was still a good amount of cake left over. Check out any grocery store, they're usually cheaper than a fancy bakery. I personally think Publix has the best bakery. And they'll do anything you want, you can even check out www.publix.com to see pics of some common wedding cakes. Good luck!!

Hi, WALMART!!! I got my wedding cake at walmart and it was the best ever. This year I bought a birthday cake for my little girl at a well known bakery in town. Guess what, walmart was so much better. We got a 3 tier wedding cake from there and it was about $100. It was moist, pretty and everybody loved it. The well known bakery cake was so dry and didn't taste as good.

Why not have a cupcake cake. Make a lot of individual cupcakes and pile them on tiers like you would a regular wedding cake. My friend did it and it was so cool. Every cupcake had different color of icing or decorations and them. The best was that her Mom and Grandmother made the cakes so it didn't cost her hardly anything at all.

One option--make only the topper "real" cake. The rest of the cake could be cardboard, just decorated like the cake. Then have a sheet cake on the side to make the pieces.

It just cut the slices from $3.00 to $1.50.

Check with the cater... most of them I talked to supplied it for free or you got a huge discount through someone they recommend!
Remember- you can always have a small fancy cake and then feed all the guest from a sheet cake... No one knows the difference and most catering halls do it!

Most reception halls now include the wedding cake in their per person price.
