Ok. Wait a minute. In terms of looks, you can't fail them, they have to have failed you (if that's even true -- I'm sure you look fine!) Their genetic contribution determined what you would look like, so how in the world can that be your fault unless you purposely disfigured yourself? Then, let's see, where were we? Ok. All you have to do to make reasonable parents proud is have a good attitude, "show up" for life, try your best and be a kind, good person. This is all I've ever wanted in the outcome of my children. How could a parent hope for anything more? I think you are worthy of their pride just because you CARE about what they think of you. A lot of kids don't even care what their parents think or feel. I think you are being way too hard on yourself.

First of all, why are you so sure that they are disappointed in the way you look? And why do you think your appearance has any bearing on whether or not your parents are proud of you? There is more, much more, to a person than their looks. And looks fade anyway so don't focus so much on that. Why don't you focus on how you can make yourself the best "you" you can be. Focus on getting a great education and picking a satisfying career so that you can be happy and self-sufficient in life. Not only would that make "you" proud of you, but also your parents.

I'm a parent myseld and my kids looks would never get in the way of feeling proud of them. I think that my kids are the most beautiful kids in the world but that is because they are mine. Maybe not everybody feels the same way about them. So if you are a great person, your looks should not matter.

If you have a good heart, you're heading to college, and focused on a career path, I don't see how they can't be proud of you. Sometimes children never live up to their parent's dreams and expectations. There's nothing you can do about it. Just don't waste your time being sad. This is YOUR life. Make it a good one and enjoy!

As a Mother, Honey, I feel that I have to tell you that you are adorable and worthy of self pride don't be so hard on yourself. When your parents see you you are a product of them to gain their approval look in the mirror and smile get some of that confidence stuff maybe you will see what they see. With confidence. They will be reassured that you will be ok.

if they fault you for things you cannot help then they are
the ones with a problem. go on to college if you can or
get a job. work hard at whatever you do, be the best
person you can be and if they are not proud of you i
will be proud of you in their stead.

Looks should be a very small part of us. It should be how we treat people, honesty, responsibility, studying hard, working hard, etc.
I don't know your family, but some people cannot be happy and proud of others. It lies within them, not you.
