:: Highlights - what color (thinking about RED) ::?

Question

I have dark dark brown hair that basically looks BLACK and a medium skin tone. I want to get red highlights. Good idea? If you don't think so, what are some other alternatives?

When hair is as dark as yours, it will probably highlight most gracefully to a beautiful deep auburn red. If you are interested in trying goldish browns ask your colorist to do a test highlight at the hairline of your neck to see how dominant the red is in your hair. Typically with hair as dark as yours red is very dominant, but sometimes we're pleasantly surprised. If you decide to go this route keep the highlights very thin, concentrated in the areas you'd like the highlights and make sure if they layer pigments over the highlights that they don't use any oxidation dyes.

Red will look nice. But don't get an extreme red. Get like a natural looking red. You can also get soft golden highlights.

Definityl definitly go for burgendy red... it will look so pretty! i just went red a couple of days ago! red is a nice color...

u should get a blonde color.it will lighten up your face.colors are not so good.but thinbk about blonde....picture yourself!B E A U T I F U L

i have olive skin like you myself...i think carmal mahogany or burgandy would look really good...stay away from ash tones though you can look washed out and sick ((trust me i made that same mastake))
