If you get lucky, sure you can win. It is a tough game to beat and I am surprised that you know someone who has done well over the long haul, because most people do not.
If you want to play online for fun or real money, you might want to check out the roulette sites at http://www.ranked-online-casinos.com/roulette-online-casinos.html All of them offer free money play and real money gambling!

It is completely impossible to win roulette in the long run. The wheel will win money for its casino without fail. When considering whether something is winnable, you need to consider, 1) What am I risking? 2) What can I win?
Say a friend makes you a proposition...
Everytime he flips a coin and it lands on heads, he will pay you $1.50 and everytime its tails, you pay him $2.
Yes, technically you could win if you play once and win, or get a string of lucky victories. But since a coin has a 50% chance of helping you, you are getting pot odds of 1-1. But you are risking $2 to win $1.5 so when you compare them you are getting
1-1 from the pot
2-1.5 from your chances. That means that according to the law of averages, you will win once and lose once on average.
So you lose 2 dollars once and win 1.50 dollars once, which is a net 50 cent loss over 2 plays, and an average net loss of 25 cents per each play. So the play will hurt you and help your opponent. You can use this same concept to decide whether anything is a good gamble, and roulette is a bad deal no matter how you play.

The odds are statistically better than say, a slot machine, however, they are still less than 50%. My own personal experience is one can have a reasonable chance at winning playing poker, Black Jack, craps and the roulette table, but these require strategy and skill. One footnote: in Reno many years ago, I played the roulette table on a fluke. I was there for a few "rounds" and did not win a thing. Some guy comes over, plops a hundred on black, and won.
Nice way to double your money.

Roulette has some of the worst odds at a casino especially in the US because we have zero (0) and double zero (00).
I would say your friend is lying.
It might be possible if he was a counter at Blackjack but Roulette - not statistically possible.

Your chances are about 50/50 if you bet on either black or red. As far as the odds playing the numbers... Just like any other game in Vegas, the house has about a 5-8% edge regardless of whether you play straight numbers, streets, splits, corners or sixlines.
Every game in Vegas is designed to make the house money. Sorry to be the bearer of this bad news.

I love roulette, but pretending you can make a living all the time at it is crazy. No professional gambler would go near it.

Ridiculous question. Of course there is no way to do this or the Casinos would have put a stop to it.
I think you are just trying to collect a bunch of email addresses from people contacting your "friend". I bet you will even try to sell them your secret "system". Am I right? If so, vote me the best answer!!!
